OUR VALENTINE'S (2020)

And how was your VALENTINE'S? Or as I call it, VALENTIMES!!!

To be honest I was not really expecting much for VALENTIMES. I was angry with the Yub for something and didn't feel like going out AT ALL. Plus, I'm sorta lazy with the plans for that weekend.

Then on the day of VALENTIME'S I saw THIS again -- my Dad's last card noting it as "From a secret admirer," and I remembered how he made such a fuss about VALENTIME'S every year.

When we were still little brats he would always give my Mommy flowers and box of chocolates (the one that Forest Gump loved -- assorted). Tee hee... I remember my siblings and I would look hungrily as my Mommers opened her box of chocolates and she would just give it all to us to devour.

As we grew older, my Daddyowzers would then order flowers and have it delivered to me "from a secret admirer." (I was an ugly duckling then so I guess he took pity on me. Ha ha ha ha ha). I

Even after I developed into a ravishing young lady (he he he he he) he continued sending me flowers with the usual "From your secret admirer" or "From: Roger" (his codename).  Sometimes he would even request our driver to give the bouquet of flowers at my work so that my officemates would see how I had "somebody". Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

So yeah. My Dad is the reason why I'm such a romantic. VALENTIME'S was such a big deal to him that he would give flowers to all of the girls in the family and household (yep, his secretary and help included) and be extra mushy to my Mommy.

That's why I realized, I shouldn't be such a crab this VALENTIME'S. This is one of the events where Daddy made it more meaningful for me and I should honor his loving efforts  by having fun this day of hearts.

I'm sure he would've loved it that way (pun sorta intended).

Sharing with you my VALENTIMES' celebrations this year and I hope "naka-iskor" kayong lahat!

Tee to the hee!!!!!

HAPPY VALENTIME'S!!!!

EWWWWW!

KIMPURA GREENHILLS ( 2019 )

I know what you must be thinking...

KIMPURA AGAIN???

Not only that, it's KIMPURA again on MY (belated) birthday. Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Yep some time last March my dear HS friend Sandra invited me out to treat me on my birthday. When she asked me where, the usual "tug-of-war" of who will name what place, erupted. FINALLY, fickle minded me decided on Italian. So Sandra arranged for this restaurant she loved in Greenhills.

Then at the last minute while I was on my way to the venue, I texted her "Sandz, will you get mad if we switched to Japanese na lang again?" (I said "again" because we'll already been changing and re-planning the venue).

Her answer was, "He he he... Sige Japanese" -- you'll get the impression that she's about to wring your neck.

KIDDING!!!

So KIMPURA it is because she hasn't eaten there yet and we felt that it was the best choice for Japanese in the Greenhills area.

YAY!!!

Once again, my KIMPURA loyal heart (and tummy) is happy!!!!

WOHOO!

KIMPURA baby!!!!

THE NEW KIMPURA (GREENHILLS)

When the Yub and I were thinking of how to officially "end" Andrei's birthday celebrations for 2018, we thought that it should be somewhere special that he loved.

We already went to Baguio...
We already had a staycation in Discovery Primea...
We already spent the day in Star City....

Now where to next?

That's when I remembered that KIMPURA in Greenhills had finally opened after being closed for about 2 years. The original restaurant was taken down because of "structural development", and they were able to transfer to a new location that was still within the Greenhills commercial center.

When I asked the Androse if he's game for KIMPURA he gave a very enthusiastic and eager, "YES!!!" Kimpura was, after all, one of our favorite birthday places. Too bad lang that the rest of my family were in London so they missed the "finale" of Andrei's birthday celebrations.

Ok lang because... MORE FOR US! BWA HA HA HA!

KIMPURA!!!!

WELCOME BACK! WOHOO!!!

KIMPURA had a more sleek design with warm and soothing lighting.

KIMPURA GREENBELT (2018)

Let me start off by saying I'm really annoyed now.

I already did a draft of this blogations and finished it already. Now for SOME WEIRD AND MIND-BLOGGING reason, it disappeared and what I got were 2 COPIES of ANOTHER blogpost!!!!! How the freak did that happen???

@#$%^&&

Now since I don't have a photographic memory like the other geniuses out there, I HAVE TO REWRITE THE WHOLE THING!!!! Egad! My big forehead can't handle all that thinking!!!!

If I'm in front of you I would gladly dramatize my sarcasm and anger with actions. He he he he he he...

ANYWAY.....

(Using my sweet voice na) It's the actual day of my 33rd birthday (tee hee) and after mass, I invited my family to a Japanese dinner treat in our favorite.....

Yup! You guessed it!

KIMPURA!

Yup! It's ALWAYS going to be at KIMPURA.

But this time though, we're going to be at their Greenbelt branch because their Greenhills restaurant closed down (it will be transferred to another location).

OUR LAST DINNER IN KIMPURA GREENHILLS

If you have been following my silly little foodie blog (oh poor you), you would know how much my family and I are SO obsessed with KIMPURA in Greenhills! Yep! It has already been an institution for us, almost like a separate room of our house where we celebrate birthdays, special occasions, or just when we're in the mood for delicious Japanese food. They had another branch in Greenbelt but it wasn't just the same for us -- KIMPURA Greenhills had all our wonderful family memories that we would never ever think of going to somewhere else.

I forgot the first time we ate in KIMPURA in Greenhills but I'm sure it's close to when it opened its doors 29 years ago (Grabe! 3 years old lang ako nun! :P ).  Since then, we have been regular customers and became friends with the servers and resident managers.  When birthdays are to be celebrated, we don't need to ask where, it's automatically going to be in KIMPURA at the Teppanyaki Table!

So imagine our despair when we learned (during my birthday lunch pa ah) that KIMPURA will be closing their doors sometime in the summer.

HUWATDAEYF?????

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US???!!!! WHY ARE YOU SO SELFISH????"

Seriously though, we really got sad with the news. If I may borrow how they used the line in FRIENDS, "It is an end of an era." The manager told us that their space was bought by a very popular land corporation and they'll convert the whole area into a modern commercial center. They may be planning on moving to another spot near Missouri St., but it's not the same -- our old KIMPURA was going to "leave" us. Where will we go now?

Sorry but sometimes, development REALLY sucks!

We still went on with our usual lives but when we finally learned of the last few days of KIMPURA Greenhills, THE YAPPY BUNCH just had to pay homage to our "faux" ancestral home.

As usual, we had a delicious and wonderful dinner. But the night was bittersweet -- it was the last time we will be eating at the Japanese place that has been welcoming us for 29 years.

Good bye KIMPURA GREENHILLS!!! Thanks for always being there for us and serving fried dilis and pickled veggies.

So will I stop blogging about my birthday celebrations in KIMPURA??????

HELL NO!!!

As long as we're having MY family birthdays in KIMPURA, I'll always be posting it here since each celebration has its own special memory that came with it.

KIMPURA GREENBELT

I know that I have already made a GAZILLION entries about KIMPURA and how I loved celebrating my birthdays there. But I cannot help it. HERE IS ANOTHER ONE. And this time, for the first time, ERICJAZ FOODIES are in KIMPURA GREENBELT to celebrate ANOTHER birthday to treat my BGP (Best Gal Pal) to some of our favorite dishes there.

And how was it dining at KIMPURA at the other side of the Metro?

TOTAL BLISS. It still had the same delicious and unforgettable food that I have come to obsess with for many, many years!

KIMPURA GREENBELT!!

KIMPURA is located in the 4th floor of GREENBELT 5 right besides PEKING GARDEN.

MY 41ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

I often see many quotes in Facebook how "Growing up sucks" or that "Becoming an adult is the worst mistake anyone could make". I mean yes, I do miss the fast metabolism, the energy, and the total lack of responsibility in the world, but really, GROWING UP IS FUN!

Yep! And if you FEEL old, then it's your fault!

I know I often make jokes about how I'm a decade younger. But the REAL reason I do that is because I love making people laugh and it's just hysterical seeing the expressions of those in the receiving end of the joke.  If you get to know the Jazzle Dazzle (aka ME), you'll discover how much I love hearing the guffaws of happy people (even at my expense).

SO! The truth of the matter is, I EMBRACE being 41! I have accepted that becoming older is part of the deal of my existence. I may give in to an occasional rant or two when the hormones of the month kick in, but I have accepted the mortality of my royal cuteness. I have just turned 41 this 2016 and I am proud of it!

But do I FEEL 41?? HELL NO.

I don't really know if it's a good thing or a bad thing but I don't feel like I'm ever growing up. Up to now I'm still crazy and I never stop making jokes. I thought when I was little, by the time I reach 41, I would become this lady-like Mommy who would speak softly and bake pies everyday. Instead, I'm this weird Mommy (boys said so) who would make voices and I do prank calls! The only thing true is that yes, I do bake pies. But not everyday.

The great thing about being 41 is, NOW I have my own money to spend, NOW I'm in my dream job, NOW I get to chat with my favorites Tito, Vic, and Joey, NOW I know how to put on make-up, NOW I still have my family (and some of the bossy ones have moved out of our house... tee hee), NOW I only surround myself with great friends, NOW I'm not afraid of boys, NOW I don't care about what people think, NOW I'm not a Star Wars geek (for some reason it's fashionable now compared to when I was ogling over Luke when I was in grade school), NOW I don't have to attend school and study for exams, NOW I don't have a curfew, NOW I don't care about what people think of me, NOW I could make all the weird, green, corny jokes that I want, NOW I could tell if a person is lying or not, NOW I have bigger boobs (from fat),

AND the "bestest" of them all...

NOW I have my little lords, AND NOW, I have a boyfriend / husband / driver (sweet lover) / bodyguard for life!

See? Isn't being 41 grand???  And honestly, if you ask me, I don't think I have fully grown up yet. Although, one of my wishes when I was a kid was that when I grow up, I want to be very happy.

And, even with all the imperfections that life could sometimes give, I could say that I am still happy.

So with that, what else do I want when I grow up?

I'll just think about it when I'm near it.

:)

Oh! Oh! It would never hurt to have bigger boobs and a smaller forehead though.

Tee heee!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

My 2016 BIRTHDAY kicked off with BGP Marian and Manong Fred! They treated us to ITALIANNIS (my choice of restaurant) for my "birthday salubong".

We always love going out with our best friends because we ALWAYS have the best of times!

MATI'S 2016 BIRTHDAY!!!

It's Master Mati's birthday and like how we do it every year, it's going to be a blast!

We started it off with a surprise song for the birthday celebrant at the strike of 12:00am. While Mati and the Chinese Adonis were watching television, Andrei and I sneaked upstairs to do a simple set up.

My little apprentice was very excited too. If I'm not mistaken, he seems to be more "alive" now compared to his birthday eve surprise. He he he he he he!

And when it was already 12:00am, we called the birthday boy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATI!

KIMPURA (MY 2015 BIRTHDAY)

Once again it is my birthday and once again, we will eat at KIMPURA for dinner! It has actually been a tradition for me already to have my birthday dinner at my favorite Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant. My family may already be getting tired of it and there are more exciting restaurants out there. But we are eating at my favorite KIMPURA and that is final.

On my birthday actually, I was so worried because Pnoy wonderfully declared that Edsa and some streets will be closed due to the People Power Anniversary. Bollocks! That meant traffic jams here and there! Such was the horrendous traffic that morning that instead of going to Church and having our usual GLORIA MARIS birthday breakfast, we ended up in CIBO in Power plant Mall because our car did not budge at all! Que horror I know!

Good thing that the foodie gods understood my need to have my favorite on my birthday because by 4:00pm, the streets cleared up and it was easy peasy for the cars to go anywhere. Hooray! There you go!

Just goes on to show that if you drool about it, your wishes with come true.

With that, I know that KIMPURA and I are meant to be. Forever. He he he he he!

It's my birthday and the family is in KIMPURA!

MY 40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS!

EGAD it finally happened.

I turned 40!

Confusing right? I know, I know, that I don't look a day over 20 years old but that's the truth. And if many do not believe it, I would still have to face that I....

... am older than Annie in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

... am older than Rachel in FRIENDS.

.... am older than the 4 geezers in SEX AND THE CITY.

... am older than Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!!!!!

Egad I'm old!

Anywho, the best thing with my age though is that now I am surrounded with more people whom I love and vise versa (I think/hope) than when I was younger. Believe me that I had so much fun with my two week (and more) birthday gimmicks that I almost had a heart attack plus bout of rheumatism!

Kidding aside, I know I may have put off making this blog entry for quite sometime because there were just too many to post and write about. And of course I'm sure you know that this old lady is quite lazy! But reviewing the pictures and reminiscing on the laughter, food, and love at turning a year older just made me feel so overwhelmed with all the blessings that I would (many times) take for granted.

Like I said many times during my two week (and more) birthday celebrations, turning 40 is not so bad after all if your days are filled with eating, smiling, hugging, and LOVING.

Of course, it doesn't hurt too if you got the best family and friends to do it with!

I AM NOW OLDER THAN SHARON IN THOSE SHARON-GABBY MOVIES would you believe??????

Sorry I can't move on.

:P

Presenting my birthday celebrations!!!!

For my first BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, I asked my BP Group for an out of town staycation in Tagaytay City.

The drive may not be so long but there was already a bit of traffic.  Good thing my husband downloaded MAP FACTOR and it was able to show us some detours to avoid the jams.

Do try it out! It's free and you could use it without internet!

When we have an out of town drive, I always stay at the back with little Andrei. We kept ourselves occupied by watching some DOWNTON ABBEY! My favorite at that time!

While watching, we snacked on some biscuits plus ice cold juice and chocolait!

And we're here in Tagaytay!

The first meal to kick off my early birthday weekend was in BAG OF BEANS!

Whenever you're in Tagaytay, you should always make a pit stop here for their delicious food and take home pastries!

KIMPURA TEPPENYAKI (AGAIN FOR KUYA JON'S BDAY)

It's a Gatdula birthday celebration once more and guess where we went for dinner? KIMPURA of course! No matter what we suggested to the birthday boy, my elder brother Kuya Jon still chose our usual teppanyaki birthday dinner at KIMPURA since he felt it was already "tradition". I'm glad because not only am I all for "family sentiment" but the food at KIMPURA is timelessly delicious. Plus,  the twenty and more years that we have been eating here, we always have an enjoyable and tummy "full"filling meal EVERYTIME.

So why wouldn't we always include this in our "eat list"?

Oh and by the way. When I said "twenty and more years" that goes out to my brothers and sister. I'm like 2 decades younger than them.

:P

He he he!

KIMPURA (AGAIN)

My husband and I just love celebrating family birthdays because not only are we thankful for another year of blessings with that loved one but we also get to eat at one of our favorite natal day restaurant tradition....

KIMPURA!

Now I know that I have already professed my love and wrote about how we really have regular birthday meetings in this old Japanese restaurant (SEE HERE!!!) but the birthday season is upon us where from October to March, we have one celebrant per month! With this, it is most likely that we will be enjoying the wonders of KIMPURA's teppanyaki table many times this season and we are not complaining! Of course a big factor is that members of TEAM YAP are all celebrants in the coming months too! Ha ha ha ha!

Here's our celebration with Kuya Jon to jump start the KIMPURA birthday celebration last September!

KIMPURA!!!
