SONG DO KOREAN RESTAURANT

The Master Mati is having his 2 week birthday fun and included in his celebrations is choosing where the family will eat for the weekends that are reserved for him. Normally, the birthday boy makes a list on where he wants to go but even if my dearest Mati forgot to do this, the Chinese Dimpol and I knew that he will NEVER miss having a Korean dinner. I asked him if he wanted to go to the usual practical (aka cheap) buffets that are so popular now. My New Teenager agreed but somehow I sensed that he wanted to try out someplace new instead.

So with that I suggested SONG DO KOREAN RESTAURANT!

I was very familiar with SONG DO because my office would order take-out there just in case they were craving for something Korean. I have often heard raves about their food that it really got me curious. And with Master Mati's birthday celebration, we figured that now was the time.

We're going to SONG DO!

SONG DO KOREAN RESTAURANT!

Now be prepared to climb on a lot of steps! He he he he he he!

We were welcomed by dears Sheila and Ms. Flor! I'm not sure if they knew that I was their regular customer but they were still so warm and accommodating.

We were having a Friday dinner that night and we were (almost) the only ones in SONG DO. According to dear Sheila, they're usually packed during weekday lunches because of the working crowd.  She said it was a good thing that we're early because more diners come in at the later hours.

My birthday teenager!

OH NOESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Ordering up! Wow! You would think I was getting a song from them. He he he he he he! They were all so nice and friendly.

THE YAPPY BUNCH does Korean!!!!!!!!!!

Normally, the Chinese Dimpol and I reserve Fridays for our night out with friends, Saturdays for date nights, then Sundays for family. Of course, the little lords could still join us and we could still cancel plans if they want to go somewhere, but we do our "bookings" that way.

However, when it's the little lord's birthday week, we do not accept any invites as all nights are reserved for them!!!!!

In no time, dear Sheila served the Ban Chan!

The Chinese Dimpol doesn't eat vegetables so this was just all for me and Mati!

My little foodie and I both love Kimchi!!!!

Wohoo! Mati's favorite is here!

SONG DO Bibimbap (P390.00)!!

My dearest loved Bibimbap and it's the dish that made him love vegetables.

He could finish this whole bowl with extra dollops of the Korean spicy paste!

My happy birthday boy!

SONG DO Stir Fried Squid with Spicy Sauce (P500.00)!

Now this was so awesome and so sulit!!!! The sauce may be spicy but it was bearable and perfect with rice. The squid was fresh and the chopped vegetables were still crunchy!!!

The Chinese Dimpol and I loved this so much that we'll definitely go back for it!

For our barbecue, we got the SONG DO Pork Belly (P300.00)!

SONG DO server Angie offered to grill this up for us! Yey! Thanks!

The Pork Barbecue was served with lettuce leaves, garlic, and chilis for wrapping.

Oooh lala! Now that aroma was just heavenly!

OINK! OINK!

Why don't you cook already???

While waiting for the pork to cook, Mati shared some of his Bibimbap with me.

For some more veggies in our system, we had the SONG DO Kani Salad....

... that was served with a lot of sesame dressing!!!! He he he he he he he!

And SONG DO Jap Chae (P300.00)!

To be honest, I'm not fond of Jap Chae because glass noodles make me choke (especially if you don't chew it... he he he he he he!!!) But the Chinese Dimpol loved this and was able to eat a lot of it.

ERICJAZ FOODIES with Master Mati in SONG DO!

YUB AUUUGHHHH!!!!

BETTER!!!

And after a few minutes, the chopped pork was sizzling with that slight grilled crust. My mouth was drooling so much at this point it was already indecent.

What a perfect sight!!!!

COOK DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And finally I got to roll myself some of the barbecued pork, kimchi, grilled onions and garlic, and chili paste!

INANGKUPUSHNESS ANG SARAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!

I normally don't eat pork fat, but when it's Korean Barbecue, I eat the meat, the skin, the fat... hook, line, and sinker!!!!

Almost done....

Check out how my boy scraped his Bibimbap bowl clean!

Egad.. My tummy can't take anymore.... But we still have 3 pieces of pork! He he he he he he!

The boys enjoyed their pork more by mixing it with the sauce from the Spicy Squid. Ingenious huh???

I was already so full that my stretch marks are playing peekaboo. The Chinese Dimpol however, would always have room for dessert!

BURP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I was not able to take a picture of the bill but it was a little less than P2,000.00 I think. So worth it with the delicious Korean grub that we really enjoyed for the night. We will DEFINITELY go back!

Of course, what's important is the birthday boy had fun. And, judging by the squeaky clean black bowl, I'm sure he did.

WE LOVE YOU MATI!!!!!!!!!
