ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT DIMSUM PLUS MORE IN NEW WORLD HOTEL MAKATI

One Saturday, we were invited to try out the new EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN offering JASMINE restaurant in NEW WORLD HOTEL MAKATI.

Wow! NEW WORLD HOTEL!!! This Makati classic has been part of our many HOTEL HOPPING gimiks during the Christmas season where we would always hang out in the bar listening to music. This time, not only will we be eating in their popular restaurant, but we will also be feasting on dimsum! One of our favorites!!!

So the Yub and I excitedly drove over to NEW WORLD HOTEL all hungry and delirious because we haven't eaten breakfast. We promised each other that even though we were starving, we will control our appetites because we will only permit our tummies to be ravaged during the Christmas and New Year feasts.

What happened? Let's just say that as usual, vows were broken and we completely "yolo-ed" our diets.  Still, there were no regrets -- we did eat all and savored all that we can!

So 2020 may be ending at what may be the most different year for all of us. That's why I'm happy that there are restaurants such as JASMINE of NEW WORLD HOTEL that now offer their exceptional dishes at special prices to go along with our new "situation." In this way, even if the overall experience may be different from what we were all used to, the taste and meal itself will be the manifestation that life is still GOOD!

Yohooo!

We're in NEW WORLD HOTEL MAKATI!

MANN HANN (ROBINSON'S GALLERIA)

One weekend, the Yub, Mati, and I went to Robinson's Galleria to buy my Mom's birthday gift that was (unfortunately) not available in the malls near us. We went there extra early and that was a good move because not a lot of shoppers were there.

Come eating time, where to? We let Mati choose first (because he's been very patient while I was going around and checking the plates I got for Mommy). He asked for Samgyupsalamat but when we got there, sushmaryosep, punong puno!

Secretly I was craving for Ramen Nagi but since we've been there for 2 weekends already, I just kept quiet. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

With that we just decided to go around and choose the restaurant that only had a few diners.

And so we came to MANN HANN!

Naku the Yub was overjoyed at favorite restaurant niya to.

It was then Mati and I realized that he was with us and forgot to include him in the decision-making. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Oh well, everything worked in his favor naman. Tee hee.

PANDA EXPRESS PHILIPPINES

Once upon a time nearing the pandemic...

When we learned that PANDA EXPRESS was going to open in the Philippines, we got so excited because it's one of our favorite restaurants in the US. Even if we should be savoring burgers, steaks, pies, etc, there, we would always make room for this fast-food Chinese giant because not only were the prices affordable but the food was really good! It's a big plus too that it was everywhere! Ha ha ha ha ha!

After it opened, we were not able to go to PANDA EXPRESS in SM Megamall yet because we saw the torturous long lines. Normally we're fine with lining up, but these days, we're just not in the mood. Ha ha ha ha ha! Doesn't help too that there's that covid-19 looming about.

For one weekend however, we got word that classes were suspended that Monday (as schools were disinfecting their rooms). The Yub and I then thought of going to SM Mega to finally have a taste of PANDA EXPRESS here in the Philippines. And even if it somehow tasted different from its US counterpart, we still enjoyed our Sunday family outing to savor one of our favorites!!!!

(Little did we know that our gimik days were "numbered" with the upcoming virus!)

MANN HANN CAPITOL COMMONS

Once upon a time before the pandemic...

If you're close with my hub, you'd know that he's one of the most simplest man ever and it doesn't take much to make him happy. He's really not for grand celebrations and as long as we're together eating his favorite grub, he'll be super happy.

For his birthday this year, he really didn't want to make a fuss anymore because of that growing pandemic. Still, we thought that we cannot let his birthday pass without giving him even a tiny celebration and we promised to be ultra-careful.

When pushed he said he would like to have some (surprise, surprise) Chinese food. He remembered the last time we went out with Team Godoy how much we enjoyed the food in MANN HANN and asked if we could go there.

OF COURSE! His wish was our command!

We're extra happy too because we LOVED MANN HANN!

Yipee!!!!

UNO SEAFOOD PALACE

Once upon a time before the pandemic......

For my birthday week many, many eons ago (tee hee), my favorite foodie kumares/friends and I planned to have a weekend getogether because we haven't seen each other for so long.

Finally everyone was available for Saturday and when it came to deciding where to eat, it was suggested that we try out UNO SEAFOOD PLACE because they had this eat-all-you-can promo.

Hala! I also have a buffet dinner tonight pano yan??

Well!!! At least I could afford to eat "onti lang" because of the promo so I won't be so "hinayang" about it. I'm sure I could control myself from eating too much food.

Or so I thought. Tee hee.

CAUSEWAY TOMAS MORATO (2020)

During Master Mati's birthday week, we asked him where he wanted to have dinner for our Fridate.  The Yub fetched them then they were going to pick me up so that we'd have a family dinner.

The big guy chose Chinese food and without further adieu, the Yub and I both knew where we should go....

OF CHARITY AND SAVORY RESTAURANT

One of the things I love about my son's school is how they value simplicity and service to others. Grades and prestige may be important, but it's not the ultimate priority and end-goal in raising their students.

That's why I was happy when his class had a retreat with some "kuyas" who were studying and boarding in their special housing. Mati stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights and bonded with his partner who was also working as a computer technician during the day.

My big guy said he learned a great deal about money and appreciated the blessings. He felt bad how he would oftentimes take these "gifts" for granted when other people were such in need. He was so grateful for the experience because he was able to see a different side of life with the help of his "Kuya."

The Yub, Andrei, and I fetched him and was able to hear Mati's testimonial. We also met his "Kuya" and had a nice chat with him. We were supposed to eat there but decided to just go out so that the guys from the charity house could enjoy all the donated potluck foods for themselves. We were hungry though so we just decided to eat in the first restaurant we'll see on the road.

With that, we saw SAVORY!!!

MR. SUNMOON (2019)

My brother celebrated his birthday recently.

And when it comes to birthdays in our household, you know the drill.

WE EAT!!!!!!!

MR. SUNMOON!!!!!!

MR. SUNMOON was formerly SUN MOON GARDEN and it's where my family always had birthday celebrations when the celebrant is craving for some Chinese food.

As in bata pa kaming lahat! There was even a time when my Dad treated his sisters from the US here then when the food came, nag-agawan and naghabulan kaming magkakapatid (it was so embarrassing for him. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!).

Their restaurant used to be in Greenhills Shoppesville but then they transferred to Club Filipino Avenue. And that's where we went to that Sunday when my brother was in the mood for our usual comfort food.

SUNDAYS AT MONGKOK

It was a lazy Sunday and we were all just craving to do NOTHING that day.

Of course, we had to eat. Now where should we go after cleansing our soul in Sunday mass?

Why not have some of our favorite comfort food????

With that, we all thought of going to MONGKOK, a surefire favorite in Powerplant Mall that always hit the spot when we're lazy and hungry at the same time.

Lazy because we don't want to think what we want anymore. Everything there is just good!!! He he he he he he he!

And as expected everyone agreed. You really can't go wrong with greasy Chinese food even if it IS a Sunday. He he he he he!

PARADISE DYNASTY WITH THE FAMILY (2019)

It's my parents 51st wedding anniversary and though my Daddyowzers is in heaven already (huhuhu...) I still feel that we should go out and celebrate it. Of course, my Mom said she's fine at home but since THE YAPPY BUNCH came from a staycation, we should at least go out and treat my Mom in honor of her Anniversary with my Daddy (RIP).

For tonight, our choice was in PARADISE DYNASTY. Because of course, special occasions like this call for "sureball" deeeeelicious dishes!

PARADISE DYNASTY!!!!

On weekends, reservations are recommended in PARADISE DYNASTY.

NORTH PARK (P. GUEVARRA)

One Sunday, everything was feeling like how I want Sundays to be.

LAZY!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Kidding! (My Mommers would wring my neck). Well usually we would all attend mass then have a Sunday feast at home (where the usual dish in the "starring role" is the Grilled Liempo... yummmm). We never get tired of it and always look forward to family Sunday lunches that I NEVER accept any invite from friends or blogging.

That Sunday however, my Mom said we should just go out for family lunch because she was not in the mood to think of other dishes that would go with our famous Grilled Liempo (or maybe that's her way of telling us that she's getting tired of it? NOOOH!!!!!) Whatever the reason, we're fine with it. As much as we wanted to eat at home though (because Sunday Grilled Liempo was our all time favorite) we're all looking forward to have lunch somewhere else.

Now where to go????

When my Mom asked me where I wanted to go for Sunday lunch, I blurted out the first thought that came into my head "NORTH PARK!!!" And they were all fine with it.

YEHESSS I thought. Because I was soooo LAZY to do some thinking, I just said whatever came to mind. Come to think of it though, maybe I was subconsciously craving for some of my Chinese comfort food favorites from NORTH PARK.

Oh well. Whatever the reason, I'll just think about it after our heavy lunch and before dozing off for my afternoon siesta.

Yup. Like I said. LAZY.

EAT FRESH - HONG KONG FAMOUS STREET FOOD

My husband is THE KING OF THE NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Said ala Game of Thrones).

But not in the way you think... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

The Yub usually goes around the Northside for his work that's why he's the one always fetching me when I get out of work.

Oh don't you know? The Yubhub is an Electrolux Man!!!

"He's gonna knock your door...
Ring on your bell...
Tap on your window too...
Come on and open your door so he could show you more...
He's the handy electrolux man!!!"

TEE HEE!!!

If you know that ad, then you're old as me. (Sorry Millennials. You missed out on a potential LSS that will SO make your day. He he he he).

By the way, I typed that from memory. Bet you can't be a loser like that no? HA!!!

Anyway, I usually get out of work late (like 8:00pm) that we're too hungry for the long drive home. With that, we'd look for somewhere to eat, pronto. While going on our usual route, we saw this new establishment with bright lights. There were also a lot of cars parked which meant the place was popular. When we looked closely, we saw that it was the new EAT FRESH - HONG KONG FAMOUS STREET FOOD.

Wow! Business is indeed booming!!!!

We remember how it used to be like a small streetside eatery; now, the restaurant is in a mansion house! So if the reason for their success was indeed the food then we should really try it out, fast.

And that we did! Did we enjoy our dinner?

You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE! HA!

Dan... dan... dan!

OF WAITRESS AND THE NEW NORTH PARK

We recently got tickets to watch the latest Broadway musical presented by the Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group entitled WAITRESS and I invited the usual suspects to go with me -- Mommy, Ate Jojit, her hub Anthony, AND the Yubhub!

I actually haven't heard about this supposed to be popular Broadway musical until now. Based on the ads though, it seemed entertaining and even if I did't know the songs, I'm sure it will be something that my Mom and sister will like.

I CANNOT say the same for the boys though. I recently discovered that when it comes to our plays, they have this secret "jak en poy" in determining who will go with us. Of course, if we didn't have  a driver or we really needed a bodyguard, they have no choice. But if we just happen to have an extra ticket, they'll certainly head for the hills. HA HA HA HA HA!

That's why when my good friend Aning learned that we're going to watch WAITRESS she asked if we could get her extra tickets because she really wanted to go with us.

DING! DING! DING!!!!!

Now THAT was Anthony's opportunity to escape. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! As for the Yub, he said we needed a bodyguard (aka he secretly wanted to watch) kaya he'll go with us. Maybe he learned about the naughty story? I don't know. But it's great that he'll be joining us!

So yep, we had a great Fridate with WAITRESS. It's always fun bonding with my Mom, ate Jit, and now Aning, over a Broadway play.

If there's nudity, the Yub will SURELY agree. He he he he he he he!

OF SIDESHOW AND NEXT DOOR NORTH PARK

SIDESHOW the musical recently had its run last September and I was able to treat my Mom and family to watch it in RCBC Plaza. The Chinese Panget was not that enthusiastic to go with us but sorry siya, we needed a bodyguard (ha ha ha ha ha ha!). I just consoled him that it would be an memorable musical to see onstage especially that the story was based on facts and that he'll see 2 pretty cute girls.

OKAY SOLD!

Aba! Aba! Aba!

Come look at the freaks!

Not us ah. The ones behind us!

OF MONGKOK AND THOSE CRAZY ASIANS

When the movie CRAZY RICH ASIANS came out, my Mom asked if we could go out and see it. Now to be honest, it's not really on my list to watch on the big screen because, MEH. Last thing I want was to see pretentious, materialistic, and money hungry people being glamorized. But since my Mom wanted to (she doesn't watch movies in theaters much), I was game. She has been reading the novels along with my sister so she's curious how it would be depicted on film. So really, I'm cool with anything my Mom wants to do if it would mean spending more time together.

EXCEPT going to the palengke, or to Divisoria for our Cavite supplies for Holy Week. Because EWWWWWY.

Sorry Mommy, Ate Jit is there for you. She's your favorite naman e.

Tee Heee! I'm such a lovable daughter I know!!

To make it more fun, we thought of inviting my sister and auntie (Daddy's sister) to join us as well. Call it a "ladies' night out" if you will.

Of course, a Saturdate will not be complete without dinner. And since we ARE going to watch CRAZY RICH ASIANS, there was no other choice for dinner that night...

MONGKOK for some Chinese food! Yebah!

MONGKOK has always been our go-to restaurant whenever we're craving for some Chinese food in Powerplant Mall!

It's almost always full because the dishes are affordable and delishes as well. My Daddyowzers regularly ordered here too and was friends with the servers.

OF JOHNNY CHOW AND EL BIMBO

The Chinese Dimpol got tickets to the popular musical play "ANG HULING EL BIMBO" that as a result, we had an insta-Sundate. Yup! Just me and the Chinese panget.

Well, I'm sure the boys would've LOOOOOVED to come with us (NOT!) but they have lakad with their Lola in Cavite so this date was just right for the two of us.

Pwede pang magbiglang liko going home.

EWWWWW. Oh. I'm. KIDDING.

When we got to (whispers) Resorts World Manila, we immediately set out to do an important mission. No, we didn't go to the theatre to get ready for the show. Rather, we looked for a restaurant to have our quick lunch before the show. He he he he he!

Syempre, priorities! Priorities!

We went around and since most of the places were interested in were full, we ended up in JOHNNY CHOW because for one, we haven't eaten there yet, and two, the Yub absolutely loved Chinese food.

Hopefully the food there in JOHNNY CHOW is good because I hate trying out new restaurants only to leave disappointed (that's why we eat at the same places tuloy).  Come to think of it though, we enjoy everywhere we go to because there is always something to be happy about and it's always fun as long as we're together.

Especially if biglang liko.

EW.

He he he he he he he!

Helloooo JOHNNY CHOW! CHOW!

WANG JIA TEA HOUSE

ERICJAZ FOODIES went out Saturday morning for an early getogether with THE KAIN TULOG GANG in Ortigas Center. We already went home about 1:00AM from a gimik that Friday but when our KTG beckons, we follow.

It's very likely anyway that delicious and hot food is waiting for us at the end of the "rainbow." He he he he he he he!

The venue for that morning was in WANG JIA TEA HOUSE, a simple and unpretentious restaurant located inside CW Home Depot Compound. When we got to the venue, the Yub and I knew that this would already be our kind of place especially when we're craving for affordable comfort food.

And knowing that they serve Yub's usual favorite (e.g. dimsum, noodles, rice toppings, kikiam, etc) just made him feel like he hit the jackpot.

WOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!

MIEN SAN AGAIN

MIEN SAN is one restaurant in San Juan that you couldn't miss because of its bright lights and colors along Granada street. We have only eaten there once but even if we want to go back again, we just haven't gotten ourselves to do so well because we would usually prefer the convenience (and the variety of places to go to) in a mall.

One time after he picked me up from work, the Yub and I were deeply craving for some of our favorite Ramen. But when lo and behold we went to our usual place, we were SO disappointed to discover that it was closed. With that, MIEN SAN somehow "called" our attention and invited us to go back inside.

MIEN SAN was not as spacious as it was before and I think they cut down on rental space because they have another branch along Annapolis street. Still, this restaurant maintained that homey and comfy Chinese family vibe that it was popular for. And after our meal, the Yub and I loved our dinner that once again made promises that we would go back for some more.

My sexy tummy: "YES! Please don't be your usual forgetful self and forget!!!!!!!"

>:P

YOHOO! We're in MIEN SAN!!!!

(In fairness, I think ang ganda ko sa pic!)

OF DIN TAI FUNG AND JURASSIC WORLD

It was Saturday and THE YAPPY BUNCH were out and about for our usual family movie night. We were going to watch the last full show of JURASSIC WORLD, a request made specially by the boys, and we were all excited.

BUT, before anything else, we GOTTA EAT!

I guess that's why we chose the last full show -- so that we'd have plenty of time to chat and enjoy our food. For that particular night though, we were craving to try out something else besides our usual go-to restaurants in Powerplant Mall.

We decided to go to the new wing and saw a lot of people lining up for DIN TAI FUNG. The Yub and I had already tried the SM Megamall Branch while the family got to have lunch in their Hong Kong store a year before.

How does Powerplant Mall branch fare up?

We'll find out soon! Dan... Dan... DAAAAAAAAN!

DIN TAI FUNG!!!!

Like I said, there were a lot of people that night dining in DIN TAI FUNG.

E you know us, we treat crowds as a challenge not a hindrance! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Kala nyo maiisahan nyo kami???

Kidding!

PARADISE DYNASTY AGAIN

THE YAPPY BUNCH are going to a beach getaway with some friends one weekend that we decided to give ourselves a little Despidida Party with our family.

ANG OA NO PADESPIDIDA-DESPEDIDA PA E OVERNIGHT LANG???

Ah eh.... So anyway we invited my family and our aunts and treated them to the restaurant where we recently had dinner and loved...

As expected, PARADISE DYNASTY was full that Friday. Good thing we made reservations because we know how popular this restaurant is.
