SUNDAY ROAST AT DUKE OF YORK - LONDON

While we were planning for our recent trip to London, I saw many recommendations that we should try having a SUNDAY ROAST.

What's a SUNDAY ROAST?

SUNDAY ROASTS, as defined by mareng Wikipedia, "
is a traditional meal of British origin. Although it can be consumed throughout the week, it is traditionally consumed on Sunday. A plate usually consists of roasted meat, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes and accompaniments such as Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy, and condiments such as apple sauce, mint sauce, or redcurrant sauce.

ANAK NG... ALL OF THAT IN ONE PLATE??? WE WOULD BE CRAZY NOT TO TRY IT OUT!!!! Ha ha ha ha!

(Ayan I almost said profanities... tee hee)

ANYWHO..... So on a particularly lazy Sunday in LONDON (naks) we decided to go for that SUNDAY ROAST.  The Yub searched around and saw many positive reviews on....

As my first official entry to my silly little foodie blog, let me share one of our mind-blowing experiences in LONDON during our trip there last December, 2023....

HIGHLANDS STEAKHOUSE (MOA)

It's VALENTIMES and like what we do every year, the Yub is tasked to find a place for our loving (kuno) date.

(I said kuno because seriously, we would use ANY excuse to go out for good food. Ha ha ha ha ha!)

Supposedly we would go to our usuals (MAMOU or WAGYU STONE GRILL) but the Yub wanted to try something new.

At first I was complaining because lazy me only want to go someplace near (aka not too far when my tummy comes a-grumbling). However, it's very rare when the Yub doesn't give in to my bratty whims that okay fine, with rolling eyes, I followed na.

And so we ventured out for HIGHLAND'S STEAKHOUSE!

YIHIIIIII!!! DATE KAMI!!!!!

TITTOS LATIN BBQ AND BREW

Once upon a time before the pandemic....

It's been a while since I saw the dear Godoy's that's why when we needed to meet up for one night, we made it into a gimik. He he he he!

You see, I have finally decided to do some "adulting" and get myself insurance. I thought that when I depart for heaven (for heaven daw o!!!!) I don't want to burden my family with the cost. At the same time, I'd like to give the boys a little something to help them out.

Kidding. I just want to get my ginormous "noo" insured. Ha ha ha ha!

So with that, I met up with dear Lieza to make my payment and sign some documents. At the same time, she offered to treat me for dinner as my 40th pre-birthday celebration.

Yes. 40th!!! May reklamo????

Lieza suggested we try out TITTOS LATIN BBQ AND BREW and I was game because everytime we passed by Greenhills, that restaurant was always packed.

And eat there we did. It's great that I was finally able to try out this restaurant (that seems to be the new haven for "titas of Manila" he he he he). We enjoyed the food and I immediately made mental plans to return with my family.

(Not! -- Jaz from the future in ECQ)

Tee hee....

IKINARI STEAK, TOKYO (JAPAN TRIP 2019)

One of the things that I pleaded for Kuya Jon to include in our itinerary is THIS:

IKINARI STEAK!!!

Because how can you not?

Fatty slabs of tender meat on a sizzling plate complete with sides at an affordable price -- you would be crazy not to!

And I'm sooooo thankful that my hungry fam agrees with me!

HOUSE OF WAGYU STONEGRILL (2019)

The Yub and I were celebrating our 20 years of being MAG-UN, and as expected, he forgot about it.

With that, I contemplated on how I should handle the situation...

Should I be the model wife and just understand everything? We're already married anyways and that's more of a blessing.

OR....

Should I be petty and make a big drama about how he's always forgetting special events? In that way, he'll think of a way to make up. Big time.

Syempre I chose the latter.

Tee hee... Oh wells. Before you get angry, know that I did it for women everywhere who have fallen victim to the "forgetful husband syndrome." Let's all unite and fight for our right!!!

Naaah. Kidding. I'm just hungry and craving for some steak. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Carry on!!

Happy 20th to us!!!

BLECH.

HARU SUSHI BAR AND RESTAURANT

My old friend from High School, Wendy, was in the country visiting from the US and we planned a getogether to catch up.

We asked her what she was craving for that night. And when she said she was in the mood for some Japanese food, we had the place just for her...

MEAT PLUS CAFE (SUBIC)

I remembered the last time we went to Subic with my officemates, they made it a point to have our "arrival meal" in MEAT PLUS CAFE because it was super popular in the area. We tried it and I remembered loving the steaks which were at a very practical price.

Fast forward to our SUBIC STAYCATION with THE YAPPY BUNCH and our BP (Bawal Panget) Group. While we were plotting our itinerary, I suggested that we all go to MEAT PLUS CAFE for our early lunch since we all loved steaks from our last visit and I know that we were all kuripots (he he he he he).  Everyone agreed and that became our first order of the day.

How did we find it? Read on, hamon!

:P

We're in MEAT PLUS CAFE!!!

ANDREI'S GRADUATION (2019)

My bunsoy baby recently graduated from Grade school and I cannot help but feel so emotional about it.

Emotional??? Yeah. I know you might find that weird (or over-acting) but I swear, having a son graduate from Grade School is something that would get a Mommy all choked up because it makes their transfer from babyhood to teenager all official.

My baby bunsoy is going to be in High School naaaaa!!!! Huhuhu...........

NINYO FUSION CUISINE AND WINE LOUNGE

TAPE INC has been operating close to 40 years and would you believe that I have officemates who have been working here since it started????

YUP!!!

For others naman they're here for more than 30 years. As for  me, it's already been a decade.

If you're wondering why, it's because we have THE BEST PRESIDENT ever and we all love our jobs. Everyone here believes in EAT BULAGA that we are all so loyal to the show.

ANYWAY....

The TITAS of TAPE (as we have fondly called ourselves)  went out for lunch one time because a former officemate, Ms. Oying, is visiting from the US. Mam Leslie said it'll be her treat and invited us all to join them.

The place they chose for that lunch was a restaurant called NINYO. I thought at first that it's like Gerry's or Gilligan's type of restaurant where diners could down beer along with their sisig. "Okay" I thought. At least I'll have some of my favorite sisig with garlic rice......

OH WAS I WRONG!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

If you've been to NINYO FUSION CUISINE AND WINE LOUNGE you'll know what I mean.

NINYO FUSION CUISINE!!!!!!!!!!

NINYO FUSION CUISINE was so near our office but far from the lines of popular fast food restaurants. You might even miss it because the lot looked like a residence filled with trees.

Even the entrance seems like a private home too!

TORCH AGAIN (2019)

When Master Mati had his birthday celebrations for 2019, his requests were simple: we'll eat in his favorite restaurants, he'll go out with his friends, and we'll meet up with my BP (BAWAL PANGET) Group!

As always, my friends are so game so that is very to fix up!!!

HOWEVER...

We were supposed to meet up on a Saturday where everyone is available. But then, we got word that Yub's sister will be going back to the US the following week, so that meant we needed to visit his family in Quezon Province that weekend.

I told the group and sadly discovered that on Friday, Team Navarro and Team Quitoriano cannot join us because of prior commitments.

Awwwwwww... I cannot move it naman to the following weekend because we also made plans already.

When I told Master Mati that his birthday dinner was moved and that some of our friends cannot go, he was initially disappointed, but gave me his "It's okay" later on. I guess he understood the situation and also realized that what's important is we're still meeting up with some of my BP friends.

Awwww.... My big guy is really maturing na!!!!

When I asked him where he wanted to go, he said that anywhere is fine with him. So looking at places that were still geographically desirable on a Friday the Yub and I thought it should also be someplace that would close late (since it's most likely that we'll arrive late as well).

With that I suggested TORCH. I remember the great dinner I had with mareng Gail when she treated me for my birthday last year. We enjoyed the food so much that we promised to be back soon but, since TORCH wasn't connected to a mall (he he he he he), that never happened. It would be nice to bring the little lords there as well as Team Virrey because they haven't been to that restaurant near Greenhills.

So TORCH it is. And we're happy with the choice because it was the perfect venue for our group that night -- mouth-watering food at reasonable prices in a cozy ambience.

Best part too was that our Master Mati loved it!

Yay!!!!!!

OUR VALENTINE'S (2019)

Call me baduy (because really, I am) but I absolutely LOOOOOVE Valentines.

In fact, I love it sooo much that I made a new name for it: VALENTIME'S!!! If you're a regular reader of my blog (ay kaawa awa ka namang nilalang) you'll see how I always refer to the day of hearts like that. Many times people would correct me (na parang I'm so engot) and I just say, "Well I like to call it VALENTIMES because I find that way cuter!"

May reklamo??? He he he he he!

Kidding aside, I've always loved VALENTIMES because growing up, I saw how kilig Mommy got when my Dad gave her Cadbury chocolates (which she'll share with us) and roses. I told myself, "When will my time come???"

Come my teenage years, my Dad gave me roses and labelled it with "Happy Valentines from your secret admirer, Roger" I don't know if my Dad gave roses every year because he saw nobody took a second look at me (NAPAKAGANDA KO NON PROMISE), OR, he's simply the most romantic person there is. I think it's the latter. He he he he.... But yeah, there were no Valentine scenarios ala Close Up commercials for me. While my friends were getting ready for their dates and their pa-cutesy-tootsie stuffed toys to give their boyfriends, I would usually just go out with my family. Honestly? I didn't mind too much because I always had fun with our movie and dinner nights that I didn't feel much of a loser. He he he he he he.  Maybe it's because I have the best company and I know that something (or someone) will be coming very soon.

Nakkkks!!!!

So fast forward to when I got married and had the little lords. I know I always point this out but I cannot believe that for somebody who was ignored so much by boys in my HS years, I now have not one, but 3 super good-looking gentlemen to celebrate my VALENTIMES season with. As in, take my pick right???? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I guess that's the reason why I'm always up to do the whole shebang when it comes to VALENTIMES (wear red, love the flowers and chocolates, go out on Feb 14 even if it's traffic) because I have so much to catch up on.

The best part too is that I also have family dates to celebrate the season of amore.

See why I love VALENTIMES so much?

Check out this year's celebration! You'll also see how a very fun day suddenly made a nose dive in emotions. He he he he he!

:)

HAPPY VALENTIMES EVERONE!!!!

VALLE VERDE SUNDAY LUNCH

We may not go to VALLE VERDE CLUBHOUSE as much as I wanted to but it's definitely one of my favorite places to visit with the family. For one, it's like taking a trip back in time and entering a Viva Films movie circa 1980 because it seemed like they never changed their interiors (it's just the way I liked it because there's something so comforting and relaxing about their set-up). Also, they served delicious food that's still affordable (I guess that's how it really is with exclusive clubhouses with membership), that's why it never hurts our appetites (and wallets) to go back again and again. The pool is also the best too! We almost always get it all to ourselves!!

That's why when my brother Kuya Jay, who's the real member in VALLE VERDE, invited the family for Sunday lunch, I got all excited. It's been awhile since our last getogether there and I was really looking forward to having my usual favorites.

The great part too is that it's his treat! Yayyy!!!!

VALLE VERDE Clubhouse! Definitely a happy place for us!!!!!

MAMOU TOO WITH DEAR GEM

Many times when I want to tease my dear friend Gem with something, I would always say "We should eat at MAMOU!", "It's now time for MAMOU!", or "I-MAMOU na yan!!!". I guess besides loving the food, I had a lot of fun the last time we had a double date in MAMOU, TOO with the boys.

That's why when she treated me out for my 33rd (he he he he) birthday, her ONLY choice was MAMOU TOO for us. I objected of course (kunwari) because the dishes could get pricey but she insisted. I think she also had fond memories of the restaurant with us too (naks). Either that or she just wants to shush me up from all my "MAMOU-ing." Ha ha ha ha!

Now that's SO fine with me!

Whatever the reason, e di sige hi hi (tucks hair behind ear), MAMOU TOO it is.

And as predicted, we all had a fun and delicious night!

MAMOU, TOO!

Ladies night out!

Pareng Jojie was not available that night so it was just us cutie pies. Dear Gem invited the Yub to join us but he declined. He just dropped me off and picked us up later.

Awwwww.... Ke-shwet....

Wala naman siyang steak. Tee hee!

OUR VALENTINE'S (2018)

VALENTIMES arrived. And even if I'm normally very excited for this  happy hearts day celebration every year, I have to admit I was not that into it as I was before. Of course, a big part of my lack of enthusiasm was losing my first Valentine  and I was expecting (or dreading) that everything will be different this year.

It turns out, everything went like it was before: I received flowers, I got kisses from my boys, some officemates gave me chocolates, had great dates with the hub and the family -- I actually had a lot of fun during VALENTIMES.

But how did it REALLY turn out?

See below!

Happy VALENTIMES!!!!

When I woke up, lo and behold, somebody was creepily standing there with a proud smile. If it weren't for the flowers, natadyak ko to ng di oras. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Sorry. I'm an aswang talaga in the mornings.

When I came to my senses na... Awwwwww... Thank you so much Yub!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!

When I got downstairs, I got some candy hearts from my sister and more flowers from my Kuya Jon.

On my way to office, I saw many posts about VALENTIMES. My favorite would have to be this one.

I read this in the voice of Ken Jeong from The Hangover movies. Ha ha ha ha ha!

A close second would have to be this one.

Now I wonder how THAT happened??? Hmmmm.... Tee Hee!

CONTI'S GREENHILLS

Would you guys believe that the Yubhub and I still celebrate our MU or MAG-UN Anniversary? Yep! Gross right? Ha ha ha ha ha! For those who don't know, it's the Anniversary where I gave him my much awaited (Yihiiii) YES to officially mark that we're a couple.

BLECH. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Now before you go "AWWWWWWWW THAT IS SO SWEET" on me, oh please don't. We really celebrate it so that we could have more reasons (and justifications) on eating out. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Check out our simple (yet very satisfying) mini-celebration at CONTI'S!

MAMOU TOO AGAIN AND AGAIN

I know that I have a tendency to feature repeats in my silly little foodie blog but I can't help it. If the Yub and I love a restaurant, we will certainly go back again and again and again. At the same time, we will blog about it many, many times because hey they're all still wonderful memories.

That said, the Yub and I went back to MAMOU TOO with the family because Ate Jit treated us to Sunday lunch to celebrate her birthday. I know that we should consider other restaurants for more variety, but birthdays are special so it's just right (or meant) to celebrate it somewhere we love as well. I'm glad that the sister dear feels the same way.

Yahoo! So it's MAMOU TOO again!!!

And again...

And again!!!!!

MAMOU TOO!

It's Sunday and after mass, we went straight to MAMOU TOO.

My Dad (RIP) and Mom were supposed to have lunch with us that's why Ate Jit got the table outside. Later on they gave word that they cannot join and asked us to take home whatever leftovers we had (if there's any... he he he he).

So for Ate Jojit's birthday, it's just going to be the GAT's sibs with the significant others!

STEAK PROJECT 122

ERICJAZ FOODIES was invited to try out the newest steak hub in Pasig City and though it's a bit out of the way from where we lived, we're excited!

STEAK PROJECT was right in the heart of Pasig City near Pasig City Museum and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig.

MAMOU TOO! FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY (2017)

It's our 14th year Anniversary  together (blech) and in true blue Chinese Dimpol fashion, he is nowhere in sight.

Yup!

Sometimes, he would just forget to greet me. Other times he would feel that a Facebook greeting is already enough. But this year, he decided to take it further and booked a business trip on the WEEK OF OUR ANNIVERSARY.

>:(

Okay fine. I'm sure that it's not his fault. I'm sure that somebody else made that schedule for him. But I was quite annoyed that in his usual deadma attitude, he forgot to call the whole day and just texted goodnight before going to sleep!

GRRR!!!

YUB'S HOUSE OF WAGYU BIRTHDAY LUNCH (2017)

For the Chinese Dimpol's 40th birthday getogether with my family, we decided to go for HOUSE OF WAGYU, our steak favorite. I know that we just had lunch there with THE YAPPY BUNCH the previous week, but the HOUSE OF WAGYU experience is so awesome that when you have a chance/occasion to do so, you just grab it.

And that is just what we did -- with hungry appetites and wine on the side.

HOUSE OF WAGYU STONE GRILL!!!!!!!
