AJI SEN RAMEN

We are now at the point in our lives where we are focusing on this single most important thing....

No it's not the prevention of  the 10 year itch (yes we extended it har de har har!), having more kids, or getting a boob job or hair implants (guess which is for which). It is discovering ANOTHER great Ramen restaurant for TEAM YAP.

Yup, we truly know our priorities.

So when we saw AJI SEN while cruising the road of Connective Avenue in Greenhills, we stepped on the breaks, got our foreheads bumped at the front (like what you see in movies), and trooped inside to try their noodles!

And what a happy discovery it was!

AJI SEN RAMEN!

The meynuh!!!

The noodle busters in AJI SEN RAMEN!!!

There was one party pooper though in the group who ordered just a cup of AJI SEN RAMEN's chahan fried rice (P98.00). Good thing it was delicious or else we would have kicked him out of the resto!

The culprit!!! We would asked him to leave but we just remembered 4 important things:

a.  He is the other half of this silly little foodie blog...
b.  He is going to pay for this meal...
c. He is our ride home.
d. He is SOOO handsome! Mark Anthony F eat your heart out! NAKS!

Lucky for you Mister. Lucky for YOU.

Mati, the ramen connoisseur, ordered the AJI SEN Ramen  (P235.00) which had BBQ pork, leek, boiled egg, cabbage and fungus. Master Mati requested to have everything on the side so he would just have a big bowl of noodles, corn, and soup!

I ordered the same in AJI SEN RAMEN and got extra load of toppings from little Mati. It must be my lucky day! Yohoo!

My AJI SEN RAMEN looked like this after I jammed all of the extra toppings from Mati! Noodles are you still there??? :P

LET'S EAT at AJI SEN RAMEN!

He he! Little Mati cannot wait to eat his AJI SEN RAMEN!

I'm so proud of my little foodie boy! He is very adventurous with his food and was excited to try AJI SEN RAMEN!

The same goes for me and that was just after one whiff of this steaming hot bowl of  deliciousness magnified! According to the menu, AJI SEN RAMEN puts special flavorings cannot be found in other ramen houses... I can't wait to dive my chopsticks into the noodles!

Of course! Selfie selfie muna pag may time!!!

(Oh I HATE that expression! Ha ha ha ha ha!)

My husband took the series of pictures because he said and I quote "Ang sarap pagumpugin ng ulo nyo" ("It would be nice to bonk your heads together"). He was so amused at the sight of Mommy and Mati slurping in unison in AJI SEN RAMEN!

Ready... set... GO!

Sluuurrrp!!!!

I detected a paparazzi in AJI SEN RAMEN!

I asked Mati if he could finish his bowl of AJI SEN RAMEN because if not, I will take home the other half... He confidently said that he will be able to finish it and even dashed generous helpings of chili powder on his soup.

My boy! My awesome boy!!!

And I don't blame him. The AJI SEN broth was just overflowing with flavors. Every slurp was so tasty and lip-smacking that the only way to calm your inner foodie down was to get a chopstickful of...

... noodles!! AJI SEN RAMEN's were perfectly al dente or katame! It did not get mushy at all even with the very hot broth!

The perfect combination in AJI SEN RAMEN!

And it went to my imperfect mouth in no time!

For the first time I finished first in the family!!

We watched on as Mati took his sweet time slurping at his own perfect pace at AJI SEN RAMEN!

You could imagine how long it took him as he ate his noodles per strand. Ha ha ha ha! Good thing AJI SEN RAMEN closed a little bit later than other restaurants.

Come on Mati... eat a little bit faster...

(or else I'll grab that bowl of AJI SEN RAMEN and finish it myself....)

In 5 minutes....

And just in case you're wondering, I did NOT inhale Mati's soup. He finished it himself! What do you think of me? Thinking of you???

That's my boy! It wouldn't hurt though to give me a little bit more of his AJI SEN RAMEN.

Ha ha ha! Kidding!

LET'S EAT!

GANSO SHABUWAY

If you are one very unfortunate being who is close to TEAM YAP (oh poor poor you!) you would know that we just absolutely LOVE shabu shabu... Especially Healthy Shabu Shabu (see our meal there HERE!!!)

As much as we love that restaurant, we would like to try out other SHABU SHABU hubs. Besides having to eat there almost EVERY week (I kid you not), I only get to eat the leftover vegetables because the kids usually wipe out all the meats and I find it too much to order another set just for me. So yes, eating at a different SHABU SHABU restaurant is a welcome change for me because at least I would be able to eat something and not just a cupful of taiwan pechay!

However, the 2 little lords "condemned" us to only eat at that restaurant FOREVER and would raise quite a ruckus worse than the Tasmanian devil on a warpath should we eat at SHABU SHABU without them.
So on one particular date night, we escaped from  the kids' cuisine claws and decided to go SHABU SHABU but this time for the more adult palate with GANSO SHABUWAY. They don't have the usual squid balls and dipping sauces which Mati and Andrei are so used to... It was as if GANSO SHABUWAY was created with just me and Yub in mind without the rugrats for date night! he he he he!

It was such a good and liberating experience... HOWEVER... i do miss the old one (maybe it has something to do with the absence of the 2 little lords). Still, GANSO SHABUWAY is a good eat if you're looking for something beefy and want to try out something different on Shabu Shabu date night!

Plus it would really be great to eat at someplace where I get to nibble on something more than leftover taiwan pechay! He he he!

GANSO SHABUWAY!

Yub, who is such a finicky eater, was somehow concerned with the 2 broths (traditional seaweed broth or the spicy miso broth) offered by GANSO SHABUWAY. He was particularly suspicious with the one with chili.

Personally I prefer the spicy miso broth of GANSO SHABUWAY since it has a bit of flavor than the other one. Plus, I love everything hot!

THAT'S why I love looking at MYSELF in the mirror.

Tee hee!

Did I just make you block me for life????

Anywho, I was particularly excited to eat at GANSO SHABUWAY because I will be able to eat everything that we cooked. PLUS, they have a different variety of vegetables and sauces that we are used to!

I think this is the first time I did not miss the kids.

Oh I'm sorry, WHAT KIDS?

Kidding! Tee hee!

YUM!!!

We ordered the GANSO SHABUWAY Meyer Natural Angus for us to share and it came with White Rice and Vegetable Plate A (Napa Cabbage, Spinach, Carrot, Enoki Mushrooms, and Tofu).

I read in a blog before that it was FORBIDDEN to share set meals in GANSO SHABUWAY and you would be charged P250 should you decide to commit this foodie sin in the resto.

Good thing that GANSO SHABUWAY came to their senses and considered that not all men eat like Homer Simpson.

Some may smell like him and look like the person in front of me but that is beside the point!

Kidding!

Check me out so serious at GANSO SHABUWAY

You can't tell that I was doing the Irish dance step routine of RIVERDANCE under the table huh??

I proceeded to flavor my GANSHO SHABUWAY ponzu sauce with some leeks and kimchi radish!

Then added a big dose of crushed garlic to my GANSO SHABUWAY sesame sauce...

HA! Yub is NOT going to get lucky tonight!

.... or will I be the unlucky one?

"Should we stay... or Should we say GOODBYE"
(My Husband's Lover - Theme Song)

Har de har har!

Here's our wonderful thin slices of GANSO SHABUWAY angus meyer beef!!! Ain't it just a purty purty sight?

I am doing this post at August so I cannot really remember why I looked so serious while cooking my GANSO SHABUWAY dinner!

I thought of 3 possible reasons:

1) My husband and I are on LQ (lover's quarrel) that night...
2) I was slated to pay for dinner...
3) My legs were tired from doing the riverdance...
4) I was not able to receive my latest poster of N' SYNC from Ebay...
5)  I wanted to go home early to watch VICE GANDA!

OH I am SOOOO kidding!

Especially on the 5th one. The thought of it just makes me want to bang my head on a hard place to get the image out of my pink brain!

Oh look! My pimple is about to go down already!

Maybe that is why! I guess I have separation anxiety from GIGI the PIMPLE which graced my face since December!!! 2 months!! WOW! That's a long time to have a GINORMOUS pimple! Hence the name, "GIGI!".

Check out the height of GIGI's fun at our meal in  SEOUL GARDEN HOT POT (HERE !!!)

Going back to our GANSO SHABUWAY dinner...

LET'S EAT!

We decided to dip our GANSO SHABUWAY meats in the traditional seaweed broth for more taste!

My delicious GANSO SHABUWAY bowl! This really warmed my tummy!

Of course, my GANSO SHABUWAY meal is not complete without rice!

Adding more greens to my GANSO SHABUWAY ponzu sauce!

I guess the Chinese stalker took a back seat from his usual "modelling" duties for ERICJAZ FOODIES and took my pictures instead since this would be a momentous event for me. FINALLY getting to eat my fare share of a SHABU SHABU set. HALLELUJAH!

Seriously of course, I missed the 2 boys terribly while we enjoyed our meal at GANSO SHABUWAY since it was quite sacrilegious to eat anything "soupy" without them. But still, this was a welcome experience for us as I truly enjoyed boiling the fatty meats and dipping it in the flavorful sesame sauce loaded with garlic. I take in a chopstickful of rice then chug it down with some ice cold coke zero.

Aaaah... that was GO-OOD.

Mati and Andrei who?

Kidding! Kidding! :)

He he he!

RUB

RUB is a new discovery made by our foodie couple friends while they were cruising the stretch of restos in Barrio Kapitolyo in Pasig. If you haven't been to the area, YOU MUST... i command you! And if you are still in my spell, troop over to RUB... a simple resto in the far end of Barrio Kapitolyo that serves AWESOME SUPER KADUPER MEATS AND RIBS!!! Just the thought of it makes me drool and lick the pics on my album... ha ha ha ha ah!!!

The great thing about RUB is that prices are CHEAP!!! Very easy on the pocket but you wouldn't think so from the quality and big servings!!! The choices are still limited (they don't have burgers yet that's why Yub was forced to eat ribs... but was thankful later on... ha ha ah) but you wouldn't notice it because THE RIBS ARE THAT GOOD!!!

Try it! I bet my silly little food blog on this... ha ha ha ha ha!

When you get to RUB, expect a bit of a wait as there may be many hungry rubbies in the resto. If you have an extra driver, you may want to bring him (her?) since parking may be something of a mission.

By the way... extra driver? Naks sosyal ka teh ha! HA HA HA!

But please, parking and braving the crowds are just small hindrances... I advise (or command) you to brave it out and wait. TRUST me, it's worth it.

Dan dan dannnn.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUB was hugely recommended to us by one of my favorite couples in the world, Mareng Gail and Jun. They discovered this resto when we were supposed to meet and got stuck in traffic. We were supposed to go to a Chinese restaurant that night but had to cancel.

Come to think of it, maybe they MADE UP that sorry traffic excuse and PURPOSELY CANCELLED so that they could eat here? Hmmm... something to consult Madam Auring on...

Anyhoo, whatever the reason or cancelled meeting was, all was forgotten when we stepped in RUB.

You know when you are being led to your table and you pass by other customers eating with their colorful dishes? That gave me a preview of what is to come for dinner and wow, it got me drooling right then and there. My husband had to use my blouse to wipe the "bubbly saliva" at the right of my lip. Oh yes such a gentleman.

If I may just do a detour... To give you an example of how much my husband loves me. We went to a party where there was food, lotsa drinks, but no ice. The only available tubed ice were the ones in the cooler where they dump the bottled drinks. That's it. While eating, I got thirsty so my husband gave me this cold glass of Coke with ice!
After happily chugging it down to the last drop, I asked him admiringly, "Galing mo Yub! Where did you get the ice?"
He answered in a matter of factly "E di sa icebox!"
Toink!!! Imagine dirty bottles of softdrinks and ALL the people in the party dipping their grimy hands in it. THAT'S where he got my ice!
Nakuuu! Kung di ka lang kamukha ni Mark Anthony!!! Kidding! I love you Yubskers! This is a nice story to share always!

Back to RUB... Sorry!

The restaurant is very cozy. It somehow reminded me of a coffee shop where would you would like to just talk and while away the time. They put frames of famous personalities for conversation pieces.

Could you guess who these two are?

If you say VAMPIRE KILLER oh you are soooo in trouble!!!

The place is quite small so here's hoping for a bigger area next time we visit.

Could you guys see Aliyah Parks? :) He he he he!

... and now we're hungry!

Their meynuh! Check out the prices! Not so steep right? Plus they have big servings!

They still have a limited menu since they focused more on the ribs (the Yub was looking for burgers since he HATED ribs. He did not like the sour taste of the sauce). But since there was nothing offered from his usual favorites, he finally settled to just sharing a plate with me. Poor Yub? Not for long.

Second page...

... and now comes the special of the night! The RIBS!!! We ordered the Ribs with 2 sides to share (P370) and from the looks of this, we will have a delicious dinner tonight!

Yub was having a mini-tantrum because he did not really fancy hickory sauce, but after a small bite, he became a convert. He loved the sweetish, malinamnam chunks of meat. He can't stop raving about it!

Same goes for me! Wow! I was NOT disappointed! The only thing I was sorry for is agreeing to share this with the Yubskers. Oh I could finish ALL of this with rice! Yup THAT good!!!

This is Gail and Jun's plate. I loved the side dishes of their ribs! Everything just deliciously complimented the main dish of the night. That coleslaw was very creamy with the right amount of tingle for your taste buds. It was so darn good with their onion rings!

If you're lucky to have a date who is not so nitpicky with his food, you could stick out your tongue and give a loooong lick at that wonderful slab of ribs. If he consents, then he's a keeper. Ha ha ha ha!

If he reacts, he's normal!

In the meantime, just enjoy the night with great food and goody friends!!!

If you're like me who always want something extra, you could request for more sauce! It's so delicious on everything! I'm not really a fan of hickory sauce but this one, I don't mind putting on my sprice (spiced rice).

By the way, the rice is not really spicy... It's just something very tasty to shovel in your mouth while your savoring the juicy morsel of a rib!

Like what I did after this picture was taken...

Moments later...

For somebody who detested ribs before, my husband certainly sucked these babies dry...

It's an epidemic! Everything was WIPED out! (Except for the plain rice though). You would see the same sight when you eat here most definitely!

The bill comes in his cute mug which unfortunately, could NOT be taken home. Anyway, you'll be happy to see though that your pocket will not be damaged or scarred for life. Prices are cheap and very dandy!

All the more reason for us to troop back to this wondrous place!!

LET'S EAT!
