Ever since I've known my friend Albert, I never stopped bugging him about getting a taste of his very special SUSHI CAKE:
If it's the holidays, "Merry Christmas! Where's my sushi cake?"
If he's celebrating a special event "Wow that is so cool! Now where's my sushi cake??"
If he's on Facebook and we were chatting about world peace, I would probably get the words SUSHI plus CAKE in the conversation. Not necessarily in that order. He he he he he!
So finally AFTER 4 FRIGGIN YEARS, my perseverance paid off when he told me that his birthday gift when I turn 29 (ahem) is a Japanese dinner. And the piece de resistance? THE SUSHI CAKE.
Finally. I have reached my holy grail.
And it was more heavenly than I imagined it would be!
|Hail to the CHEF!|
My birthday was actually at the end of February but due to some families going out of the country, out of town, or out of load ( he he he he) we had my birthday dinner in the 2nd week of March!
We arrived at 7:00pm on the dot so there was still time to chat with Albert's lovely and smart daughter Nicole....
... while Mati and Andrei ganged up on cute Ashley!
While we were all chatting up, Albert was busy in the kitchen creating such a wonderful aroma of Japanese heaven!
Later on Mati dropped by to keep Albert company. Either that or my little lord was getting mighty hungry too!
The Campos arrived later on to get the party started!
Remember, EVERYTHING here was made from scratch by Albert. He's not a chef or anything. He just REALLY loves to cook and eat!
Chicken Udon Soup!
The Soba was perfectly al dente and the broth was just savory!
Definitely slurp worthy!!!!
Miso Glazed Salmon!
Beef Teriyaki with sesame seeds!
Juicy Chicken Karaage!
Japanese appetizers -- stir fried bean sprouts, pan fried eggplants with miso sauce, french beans with sesame dressing!
What a lovely table this is...
The one that I have been waiting for SO long...
Could you see just how fat and buttery all the salmon and tuna sashimis are?
Instead of birthday candles, this SUSHI CAKE has something much better!
I guess pareng Jun cannot wait anymore too! HA HA HA HA!
Isn't this just too beautiful to touch? Take note that Albert does not take orders nor sells this.
He just whips up his SUSHI CAKE for special occasions!
Like MYYYYY BOITHDAY!
Oh that will never get old!
Our drink station!
Albert with his lovely wife Suet!
Mareng Gail and Pareng Jun!
My third plate of sushi...
My second plate of food!
Albert proceeded to cut the cake. Check out Suet checking HIM out! HA HA HA HA!
SUSHI CAKE innards!
My beautiful SUSHI CAKE slice!!! This is as delicious as it looks!!
After that epic dinner, we then went to the top floor of Albert's building where he had a videoke set up!
And since we are already in the 2nd week of March, OTHER birthday celebrants jumped in to my party!
Like Yub... (grumble grumble)...
And my god daughter Sasha!
(I cannot grumble there!) H aha ha ha!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!!!
Ha! I got to blow the last candle!
... and THE YAPPY BUNCH!
Albert's brother could give the Beatles' impersonators a run for their money! KUHANG KUHA!
Somebody got my crown!
YIHIII! Albert and Suet sang a duet!
I forgot what song this was though....
ALL STAR K!!!! THE 100 THOUSAND VIDEOKE CHALLENGE!!!!
Somebody got my crown again!!!
The very pretty Nicole sang a Disney song!
While my husband rendered Manny Pacquaio's PARA SA YO!
The boys all sang SHE BANGS!
While the girls sang something MUCH BETTER!
The kids did not get bored while the oldies sang VIDEOKE!
They got their own special room with TV!!!!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH Albert and Suet for one of the best dinner for us in 2014!!! We really enjoyed this EPIC of a night!
Truly, YOU DA MAN Albert! HA HA HA HA!
Now what will I bug you with after that much sought after SUSHI CAKE?
HA HA HA HA HA! Kidding!
Or am I?
