A MEXICAN FOOD FESTIVAL IN DIAMOND HOTEL!
ERICJAZ FOODIES were invited for dinner one stormy weekend in DIAMOND HOTEL to try out their MEXICAN FOOD FESTIVAL at their CORNICHE RESTAURANT and we were excited.
Yep! Like Speedy-Gonzales-on-steroids-partying-like-there's-tomorrow-on-an-endless-Cinco-de-Mayo, excited! He he he he!
I don't normally accept invites these days but the thought of having Mexican food and my other favorites from CORNICHE, plus seeing the Kain Tulog Gang is enough to make me get braver in tackling a possible "carmageddon" ahead. Hopefully though, we won't get stuck at anything that would force us to cancel.
And by some sort of miracle, everything did work out! I was able to get out of work early and it was a smooth, traffic-free ride from Quezon City to Roxas Boulevard. Would you believe it only took us an hour? Yep! As waze predicted!
As expected, it was a festive and fun night! It was great seeing our foodie family and our tummies were thankful for all the colorful and tasty Mexican dishes served in the buffet of CORNICHE RESTAURANT. We were glad to join this fiesta.
Viva La Mexico!!! AY!
We're at the CORNICHE RESTAURANT!
I really thought that we'll be the only diners that night because of the typhoon but CORNICHE RESTAURANT had a fare share of guests that Friday.

OUR HOTEL HOPPING TO WELCOME 2018
Once again, THE YAPPY BUNCH is out to do our annual family tradition that was started by my Daddy when my siblings and I were kiddies.
However these days, there have been some changes:
1) Before, we used to do it on the eve of New Year (since the purpose of the HOTEL HOPPING was to party at the last days of the year). However, we noticed that hotels would put down their holiday decors after the 25th because they're now more concerned with the New Year's Eve party (which didn't have much compared to their Christmas set up). I remember that with my Dad before, they only removed their Christmas trees until the celebration of the 3 Kings (he he he he he). So with that, we made our HOTEL HOPPING gimmicks earlier doing it before or a day after Christmas day.
2) We used to do our HOTEL HOPPING trips with the little lords wearing costumes of their choice (Superman, Spiderman, Storm Trooper, etc). But since their older, the thought of doing so (when it's not Halloween) was scandalous. As in they have forgotten about it na daw at nakakahiya. So now they're doing the HOTEL HOPPING in their own "binata" porma. CHE!!!!
3) We used to do drinks in the first hotel, light meals on the second, then desserts on the third. But since we didn't want to spend too much (in order to keep the tradition alive... he he he he) we just decided to have drinks and some munchies per stop.
4) Our Dad passed away this year and doing this tradition without him (or to go home to, and share what happened with our night) just feels so different. At first I honestly was not in the mood anymore since doing so would just make me tear up and remember him. But later on we thought, Daddy would want us to continue this holiday season that he started. In a very simple (yet fun way), we will be living his legacy at the last few days of the year.
Though it's always heart-breaking to remember that his "legacy" would always involve activities with the family.
:(
Anyway, here's our annual HOTEL HOPPING to welcome the year 2018!
(Yup! This year I'll be turning 33.. yeheessss... Tee heee)
Sorry I just HAD to sneak that in!
HOTEL HOPPING!!!!

DIAMOND HOTEL BIRTHDAY STAYCATION (PART ONE)
Last Christmas, the Chinese Dimpol and I received a GC from my sister for DIAMOND HOTEL. When we opened the envelope, both of us were like "Ding! Ding! Ding!" and got very excited to have another staycation with THE YAPPY BUNCH.
We decided to use the GC to celebrate our upcoming birthdays since we were only about 2 weeks apart. However on our intended date, the De Luxe Suite specified on our ancient GC was fully booked. Good thing that the DIAMOND HOTEL had new and renovated rooms available that we only needed to pay a minimum fee for the upgrade.
I'm glad that everything worked out in the end and THE YAPPY BUNCH will have another weekend of fun, food, and family, this time at THE DIAMOND HOTEL!
Happy Birthday to us!
DIAMOND HOTEL!
Their lobby!
It was actually our first time to check-in here so we were all pretty excited.
Even Manong guard was so happy and played peekaboo!
Kidding!

This mouth-watering festival of hot and colorful Spanish food will only run from April 4 to 10, 2016, and as luck would have it, ERICJAZ FOODIES was invited to bask in its sumptuous glory!

There will DEFINITELY be a festival in my tummy tonight!
Here we are entering the brightly colored archways of THE CORNICHE and anticipating the gastronomic night ahead.
The Chinese Dimpol and I were actually a bit full from munching junk food the whole day but we were raring to dig in to these hot platters of Spanish goodies!

ARABIAN NIGHTS
People would often ask me if I eat this, or if I eat that. I always answer that I eat ANYTHING just as long as it was not an endangered species, a household pet, an insect, or a human being (duh). I cannot answer the same thing about my husband though. He has A LOT of restrictions (by choice) when it comes to his diet -- no vegetables, no weird smelling sauces, no herbs, no mustard, no ketchup, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... In short, no life -- boring! He he he! Kidding! I love you Yub!
Anyway, that was the exact question I received from dear Kathi Raneses (MUCKING AROUND MANILA) when she invited ERICJAZ FOODIES for the ARABIAN DELIGHT buffet night at the Corniche of Diamond Hotel. I loved exotic food and I was so stoked that I would get to eat all I can of it! Since my husband was not overly fond of that type of cuisine, we would only have a date night of Indian or Arabian food when he's raising his "pogi" points for something (naughty naughty!). But now, not only will I be able to pig out on my favorite once in a blue moon type of food, my finicky husband will also get to devour the deliciousness of other Corniche dishes!
Wow! The night was already perfect, and we haven't even started yet! He he he he!

THE CAKE CLUB
There was a time that I was very addicted to coffee...
Wait hold on, addicted may be such a strong word. So let's try dependent.
Yes there was a time where in whatever I do, wherever I was, I just HAVE to have coffee. And this was not the when-I-wake-up in the morning sort of dependency. It's more like, instead of water, I'll just have coffee.
Yes. That bad. I remember when I was in radio before, I used to chug down 4 tall mugfuls of coffee at one sitting. And hey, this was BESIDES the one at morning, one at noon, and one at night thing. So all in all that's like 8 tall mugs of coffee? It's a wonder that my teeth is not in 50 shades of black.
Ugh... not a pretty sight....
On a Tuesday holiday, ERICJAZ FOODIES received an invite to try out the new hand dripped coffee offered by THE CAKE CLUB. Now I let out an smug snort to my husband boasting that yes, I know this. I "breathed" coffee before so there would be no problem in my "appreciation" here. So I was all so cocky and Ms. Know-It-All while going to Bonifacio High Street Central.
But wow. Big surprise. It turns out, my very menial knowledge about coffee is like a speck of dust to what I am missing. And the CAKE CLUB just charmingly exposed that. Ha ha ha ha!
My "loving" husband of course, took a lot of pictures of me being clueless. So TYPICAL of him. It's okay though. I drowned my embarrassment from him by burying my face in the delicious food that THE CAKE CLUB has to offer.
And then just like that, everything was a-okay again. Only this time, I have added to my "dependency" the wonderful hand dripped coffee offered by THE CAKE CLUB!
