DAL BERGAMASCO ITALIAN RESTAURANT (LUCENA CITY)

Whenever THE YAPPY BUNCH is in Lucena City, we make it a point to eat in the old restaurants that the Yubhub grew up enjoying which we cannot find in Manila. It is very rare that we try out someplace new because we never want to waste our time by not going to his favorites.

Unless of course, the little lords have something else in mind. And for that night, they felt like having some Italian food.

Inangku, we're in trouble now.

He he he he he!

DAL BERGAMASCO!

DAL BERGAMASCO means "From Bergamasco" and if you're wondering, Bergamasco is a commune in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont.

I like the set up of the restaurant -- it was bright, spacious, and had that sunny Tuscany type vibe that's a far cry from our usual favorites in the area.

DAL BERGAMASCO boasts of serving authentic Italian food especially that one of the owners is Italian and imparted his knowledge on the chefs.

Now THIS made me really look forward to dinner because I L-O-V-E the cuisine and would usually go for the Italian restaurants in the Metro. I've also been to Italy and ate their delicious food (for about a month) so I have an idea of how they serve properly their pasta and pizza.

Check out our ITALY EATS here!

YEHESSS! Diet is now officially forgotten.

In DAL BERGAMASCO, they have an area for the bambinis!

They also have a spot where you could find Italian goodies that you would not usually see in groceries!

Good thing that we were able to get long table for the family!

First on the table is a complimentary basket of warm bread with a tub of dipping sauce similar to a mushroom gravy.

The sliced baguette bread had a nice crunch and chewiness to it. I think we asked for one more!

Ordering!!!!

The servers are nice but they do not get tired of reminding how DAL BERGAMASCO serves authentic Italian food even when you just try to clarify a dish in their menu. Hmmm.. I wonder if they're aware that many Lucena residents have been to other restaurants that serve Italian food also? Anyway, this just made me look more forward to our meal.

The proof is in the pudding after all!

The dishes are a bit pricey compared to how other restaurants in Lucena charge. But, if the food is delicious, then it's worth it!

Our first order to arrive is the DAL BERGAMASCO Mozzarella Sticks (P240.00)!

We all loved this that we had another order in addition to what was already served at the table.

The crispy and light breading was tasty and was able to hold the gooey mozzarella cheese inside. It was also served with the same mushroom cream dip but it's more better with the tangy marinara sauce.

This may taste good but the price is a bit steep at P240.00 for 6 finger sized stick.

Or kuripot lang talaga ako?

When you go to DAL BERGAMASCO, don't miss out on the pizzas. They are indeed YUM!

We had the Diavola, or Spicy Pepperoni, Pizza (P300.00). It was really not that spicy so the kiddies were able to eat it.

We also had about 2 orders of the Quattro Formaggio, or the Four Cheese, Pizza (P300.00)!

The gooey pizza had a mix of Emmental, Raclette, Cheddar, and Mozzarella! We all savored the cheesiness in every slice! Sarap!

My picky eater Andrei stayed on his chair and was so concentrated in eating.

Master Mati loved seafood and risotto so when he saw in on the menu (P360.00) he immediately went for it.

The Risotto had the right seasoning and richness to the dish especially with the white wine and parmesan cheese.

It would have been better if the Risotto was more creamy in consistency and texture, and if they properly cleaned the shrimp (it still had the black veins in the middle), that would have been so swell.

For the pasta, we had the DAL BERGAMASCO Carbonara Classica (P250.00)!

Authentic Carbonara doesn't have cream and I think that's what they did in DAL BERGAMASCO. To get the true Carbonara, you fry Pancetta (or bacon) in Olive Oil, toss in the hot noodles with some pasta water, then mix in egg yolks, and loads of Parmesan Cheese.

But since the order is for the kids, we don't care how authentic it is. Our concern is that the kiddies will love it!

The Carbonara was just okay. There was nothing unforgettable about it. Personally it needed a bit more salt (that would usually be the job of the fried Pancetta or Parmesan Cheese). Sayang too that the kiddies were not able to finish it. Maybe they're so used to the usual kind. He he he he he he!

DAL BERGAMASCO Seafood Linguine (P295.00)!

The pasta was not as al dente as I would liked it to be. Again, the shrimps were not properly cleaned (as you can see in the picture).

But still, I loved the delicious flavors of garlic, white wine, and tomato sauce. This was my favorite from all the pasta dishes.

DAL BERGAMASCO Fettucine Alfredo (P295.00).

The kiddies loved their flavored drinks of strawberry and lime!

We told them they were having cocktails!

ERICJAZ FOODIES with the little lords and the Yap family!

After eating the kiddies went around giving free massages.

I wonder if they were able to get tips for this???

Done! With take home!

How did we find DAL BERGAMASCO? We enjoyed the experience especially that the place was spacious, well lit, and had the happy casual Tuscan-like interiors. Plus-points too that they have a kiddie area because that meant they encourage families with rugrats to go here. The food, especially the pizzas, were good but the pastas need to be given more attention to.

Yep! It's okay to have servers defend their menu as authentic Italian food but don't do so just because you feel that the diner hasn't had the real deal. Believe me, there are many residents from Lucena who have also been Italian restaurants so they would know too what's authentic or not.

Besides, the more important factor is how delicious and awesome your dish tastes for your diners. They don't need lessons on Italian dining, they just want to have a great time.

Still, I'm glad they have DAL BERGAMASCO in Lucena City. At least when we're in Lucena with Yub's family and craving for some Italian food, we know where to go.

Bon Appetit!

Ay that's French pala. (So lazy to search in google he he he he)

SO.

THERE.
