One of the highlights in the "life" of ERICJAZ FOODIES is being part of the KTG (Kain Tulog Gang) because finally, we met people who love food as much as we do and would also document it any way they can.
"Before somebody reacts, of course, my family and friends still top my list but I cannot tell you how many times I got the "Enough already!" when I take pictures of them! Pero naman when they see themselves in the blog, kilig na kilig! Che! Ha ha ha ha!"
Anyway, the person responsible for forming this "Foodie Family" is Mr. Spanky Enriquez... The Chairman... Our Pitboss... THE Bossman!
So pogi! |
Now many times I'm sure you saw me refer to him as "Dear Spanky". Hold on to your knickers, I'm not about to replace the Chinese Adonis.... yet (Bwa ha ha ah ah!). But at the start (and he doesn't know this), I did so to show respect to a person I regarded so high in social media (I was scared of him honestly at first!!!) that instead of referring to him as SIR Spanky (which he detested, violently!), I tweaked it up a bit and regularly called him DEAR (it's pretty close actually, especially if you have a hard tongue... he he he he he!). So from them on it was Dear Spanky this... Dear Spanky that. If you see my thought bubble, you would THINK I was also doing the "We're not worthy"action. NAKS! But of course, as time went on, I mentally dropped the DEAR as a stand-in for SIR and it really became what it stood for... calling somebody who is very DEAR to us.
I discovered that dear Spanky is REALLY a very cool guy and nothing to be scared about! He is actually the only person who believed in my blog (yes, the Chinese Adonis is NOT included) and would make me feel good about it at times when I doubted its silliness.
And believe me, with the way he is taking care of us in KTG, he deserves all the love that he is getting right now. I'm sure the others will agree that we owe him a lot. With that, it's no wonder why his group of hungry and lazy bloggers came together to surprise him on his special day. It was really the least that we could do to honor our King of the "Rawr" and our GODFATHER.
Dear Sir SPANKY! We love you to the farthest of Milky Way and back. Maybe that's why you'll always be somebody from another galaxy in our eyes!
:)
For dear Spanky's birthday, it was agreed that the food will be potluck. I thought since we are also going for long life, we should bring the noodles -- a birthday staple for Filipinos!
It was also very convenient for us since the venue is very near the Quezon City branch of Lola Idangs! So Yub passed by his good friend "Nalyn" and picked up a bilao of Pancit Malabon good for 30 people!
I was going to be out of the office late so Yub went ahead. When he got to our party venue, most of the KTG peeps were there getting ready.
Roll call!
The Queen of the South SUGAR AND SPICE with her handsome Kap! She was actually the one who thought about giving dear Spanky a surprise birthday and organized it!
Ate Irene of INDULGENCE BY IRENE and loving hubby Richard of TALES FROM THE TUMMY were very early at the venue to help in the set-up.
I love this pic!!!! |
My favorite blogger Richie (THE PICKIEST EATER) and his super sweet wife Rina (RINA'S RAINBOW) helped out early in the venue as well!
These two are one of the most sweetest couples I know!!!
And funniest! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Simply Abet (THE FOOD ALPHABET) was there and missing his sweet wife Joan!
Beside RINA'S RAINBOW was another special lady from the South, Guia (FOOD REVIEWS MANILA) and the very respectable Jeng (FOOD IN THE BAG).
Great thing that bf-gf (yihiiii!) Jeeves and Joko (from ABS CBN.com) were able to follow!!!
The hottest ladies (and guy) of KTG were also there: Len (THE MOMMIST), Yen (THE TUMMY TRAVELER) her buff hub Chuckie (ALL CHUCKED UP)!
Sorry for the blurry pic :( |
AND the beautiful couple of EN ROUTE Lyn and Ray were our hosts for the evening! We were all grateful that they volunteered to have the KTG surprise party in their VERY awesome house!!!!!
At this point, the KTG got word that dear Spanky was near. Would you believe that I was actually a car ahead of him? When I was on Ray's street and sensed that the car behind me might be his, I told the driver to park on a curb for awhile so that the real celebrant would go inside.
Yeesh! Last thing I want is to spoil the surprise AND be surprised at the same time! Ha ha ha ha!
Everybody went to their stations.
Of course, the KTG bloggers got ready for the surprise and armed themselves... with cameras!
Even the angels of Ray and Lyn got excited too!
Any minute now...
Everybody went out from their hiding place and shouted....
SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Spanky was speechless and shocked! He really didn't expect it!!!!
They all sang a very loud "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to the Boss Man!
Awww... Do we see tears in those beautiful eyes??
The alibi to get dear Spanky to the venue was an invitation for "close friends" to "meet" Ray and Lyn's new bundle of "pogi" joy! The celebrant said he was out the whole day and was almost close to cancelling because he was so tired.
Good thing he decided not to "indyan" this very handsome little guy!!!!
Afterwards the KTG showed a birthday video for dear Spanky we prepared for him that was edited by Chuckie!
The video was SO good that nobody noticed me come in.
If you want to see the SPANK ME BABY! video, click HERE!
Egad! Whattaface!!!!!
Of course, we wouldn't be called KTG without the large amounts of FOOD!!!
And YES! It is time to eat!
Check out what the other peeps brought and it may just be the perfect dish to bring on YOUR next potluck! Yup! Perfect for the holidays too!
For easy peasy but DELICIOUS food in an instant, make that call NOW to Chef Patrick's Kitchen!
Their food trays will be so perfect for Noche Buena! No need to slave in the kitchen for a delicious spread that night!
The Chinese Adonis and I feasted on this tender Prime Rib!! It didn't need any sort of gravy! This was so juicy and very flavorful on its own!
The Chinese Adonis was so addicted to, what else, Chinese food that he immediately reached out for these salt and pepper ribs! I even saw him savoring every morsel of the ribs and licking on the bones afterwards!
I am not really fond of sweet and sour sauces but the fish from Chef Patrick's Kitchen made me get 2 servings and have it with rice. The sauce was just divine that I could slurp it with any seafood!
Would you believe that even if it was my idea to bring Lola Idang's Pancit Malabon I did not get even a small portion of it?
YUP! THIS was the culprit! Saucy and super tasty Chef Patrick Kitchen Cha Misua!!! I think I ALSO ate this with rice!
AND here's the Yang Chow rice I'm referring to!
Another food tray strongly recommended from Chef Patrick's Kitchen is the Roasted Chicken! Now what buffet spread wouldn't beg for a chicken dish right? And this order will definitely be the winner for that night!
If you want to add a TON of class to your next party (yup! That's how I feel about this) then show up with a tray of Caviar Pie from GRACEY'S KITCHEN!
And for its size and quality of ingredients, it's very affordable too!!!
7.5 inch Plain Caviar 2,300 ;
Caviar with Salmon 2,850.
Available in smaller 4 inch version - plain 1,200 ; with Salmon 1,500.
You could also order these up as gifts if you want to impress a group of people (yup! An order of Gracey's Kitchen Caviar pie will satisfy SEVERAL hungry eaters on so many levels!)
Each other comes with a bag of crunchy melba toast or crackers!!!!
There was a LOT of salmon and caviar per every bite on this one! Nom! Nom! Nom!
Sweet old Jeng brought many packs of pork barbecue which the Chinese Adonis gobbled while waiting for the celebrant.
So embarrassing....
Even if he didn't need to anymore since we were already causing a riot in his house, Ray cooked up a very cheesy moussaka! I got a serving of this creamy vegetable dish and it was so perfect with the melba toast too!!!!
Our Lola Idang's Pancit Malabon.... Cricket cricket... Ha ha ha ha ha!
Chuckie, Yen, and Len also brought big boxes of pizza!!!!
YEHEEESSS! S & R pizzas are huge, meaty, and also very cheesy to the bite!!! I think we took home several slices of these mouth watering pizzas!
Of course, if you're a fan of S & R grub like us, you would also be very familiar with their popular roast chicken!!! The three hottie buds brought packs of this chicken favorite too!!!
The FOOD ALPHABET was craving that night for some LAPID'S Chicharon, and THE TUMMY TRAVELER bought several bags of these tasty pork rinds!
Our drinks for the KTG surprise party!
My plate! My very-shy-but-filled-with-all-things-delicious first plate!
You'd think that after stuffing himself silly with all the barbecue that the Chinese Adonis will be full by now but NOOOOOH! I think he got about 3 plates of delicious food!
I also got meself a pizza!
Plus more food!
My Yub washed it all down with chugs from his very cold San Miguel beer!
I don't drink but I WILL take a SMSELFIE (San Miguel Selfie).
Everybody was busy chatting and eating!
Like any KTG party, when we get tired of chatting, we'll eat (or vice versa).
Then when we get tired of chewing, we'll drink!
We all loved the bottles of wine that Ray served us!!! I might get some for my upcoming Christmas party with friends too!!!!!
For dessert, we pigged out on this very fudgy chocolate cake from NIKKO'S BAKING STUDIO!
Plus this gooey chocolate, caramel, and peanut cake from MY PINK WASABI!
I was full beyond words but wanted some cake.
Guess who came to my rescue?
NOT Benedict Cumberbatch, don't worry.
YEHEEEES! Thanks Yub!
The pineapple turnover from NIKKO'S BAKING STUDIO was really delish too!
After dessert, dear Spanky started to open some gifts!
Eeep! Sorry! I totally forgot to bring a gift. Hopefully the excuse "our presence is enough" will work just this time. Ha ha ha ha!
Next year we promise to give you something RAWR.
And we are done!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OH BOSSMAN OUR BOSSMAN!
Sayang that some of our KTG peeps were not able to make it but they did send video greetings and wishes. Of course, we just ate for them! He he he he!
I loved meeting up with Ate Irene of INDULGENCE BY IRENE because not only do I get another fun chika session, but I'll be able to pick up my orders of the BEST cheesecakes there is! Believe me they are!!!
Check out my obsession on her luscious cheesecakes:
Thanks also to SUGAR AND SPICE for coming up and organizing this very fun KTG surprise party for our boss man!!! I love chatting with them because I also learn a lot! We seem to be very alike kasi. He he he he he!
Time to call it a night! Since we had a TON of food, there were a LOT of leftovers too!
YOHOOO! Ray and Lynne even provided take home containers and bags! Woah!!! Now we know what to have for midnight snack later!
The Max's paper bag was for take home by the way.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN dear Spanky!!!
Usually I would take a picture with you to end my KTG blogpost but this time, I decided to just make a mini-compilation of what ERICJAZ FOODIES love about you!
