HOTEL HOPPING TO WELCOME 2023

AND for the 10th time in this silly little foodie blog, I am again featuring our traditional HOTEL HOPPING to end the old and greet the new year! I know you guys may be tired of this, but sorry na lang because this is a strict family tradition and it's most likely that we'll be doing it until the boys leave us to have a million babies.

BELAT!!

Seriously though, yes, we've been going to the same hotels and again, we've been doing the same thing over and over again. Still, every year gives a different kind of happiness, a different kind of memory, and a different sense of loving accomplishment at something that my Dad started while we were all little brats.

The pandemic may put a pause in our lives but not our family traditions. This year, we're excited that my Mom has finally joined us. I think the last time she was part of our HOTEL HOPPING tradition was when Daddy was initiating it. Though she changed our initial plans because either she didn't want to go too far or she didn't want to stay out late, in the end, everything worked out perfectly fun.

So here we are, sharing our HOTEL HOPPING tradition here in the blog (10th in ERICJAZFOODIES while forever in reality).

Enjoy!!!

Or not.

I know we DEFINITELY did!

HOTEL HOPPING AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!

First stop for us is.....

MANILA HOTEL!

The MANILA HOTEL lobby has always been one of our favorites because of its classical grandeur that portrays glamorous old Manila.

My Mom initially didn't want to go far (and said we should stay in Makati) but we really wanted her to experience again the awesomeness of the MANILA HOTEL lobby lounge.

I think we made the right decish because when she had a lunch out with her sisters, she treated them here!

ROLL CALL!!!

(As usual, Mommy doesn't want to look at the camera.)

Yub and the Androse!

Me and Mati na nagkakabigote.

Mommy and the chandelier!

Us and the Adidas squad. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Leeets eat!!!!!

We were supposed to drive through at a fast food so that we'll not be too hungry and pig out at expensive hotel food.

BUT, we can't find a suitable drive thru resto for us so we ended up all hungry in MANILA HOTEL (of course, the thought of price control still haunted us so we ordered within our budget. Ha ha ha ha!)

MANILA HOTEL Tuna Nicoise Salad (P480.00).

The sesame dressing was mighty good and its nuttiness certainly was a plus factor over the crunchy veggies.

MANILA HOTEL Spaghetti All'Amatriciana (P500.00).

Similar to our favorite Puttanesca. The fruity bite of the tomatoes went so well with the richness of our other orders.

MANILA HOTEL Quattro Formaggi (P650.00)!

Pizza crust had that toasted chewiness to it and was yum with the creamy gooey pizza.

And the piece da resistance... MANILA HOTEL Club Sandwich (P800.00).

At first I was like, "Excuse me, may I have an extra knife to cut the crust?"

Numpala, I just have to OPEN the top bread, then BULAGA... Club Sandwich!

I SOOOO LOVE the Sandwich... Being a carb addict, I even ate the bread or the "casing."

Sorry I wasn't able to take a pic of what's inside but each quarter piece was already so filling.

(Fast forward pic)

What I especially enjoyed was their Liver Spread!!! Sorry ang babaw but I don't know if it's just because it's been a long time since I've had liver spread but the flavors of this meaty spread were just sooo perfect with the bread. To be honest I think the boys got annoyed na with me from ooh-ing and aaah-ing about it repeatedly. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

ERICJAZ FOODIES the boys and Mommy in MANILA HOTEL!

ATTACKKKKKKKKKK....

Nom... nom....

DONE!

Super burp!!!!

(Reviewing the bill the prices were comparable to that of Cibo or other popular restos out there.

This one however, had a majestic chandelier looming over your head. Ha ha ha ha ha).

After eating, it's picture picture time.

Hay naku it was cold in the lobby of MANILA HOTEL that the bunso got sick the next day. He didn't bring a jacket kasi and relied on my shawl. E nalamigan na. I only made him wear my shawl when I noticed him shivering.

Nang asar pa. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

First stop... DONE!!!!

Time to make an official HOP!

Bye MANILA HOTEL!

UP NEXT is SOFITEL MANILA!

Mommy wanted to see the pool area because she had fond memories of the place with former hotel hopping trips with Daddy.

Yun lang kasi... DAN DAN DANNNNN...

THIS GREETED US!

Imagine our surprise and horror when we saw the limited Manila bay view because it was turned into a reclamation area!!!!!!!!

Grabe!

We talked to a SOFITEL staff and he said that the reclaimed area will be a long stretch of casinos.

Oh no... talagang macocover na ang beautiful view for SOFITEL guests!!!!

POOR SOFITEL! That sunrise and sunset view was one of their highlights pa naman!

OH WELL! We'll just try to imagine that the awesome Manila Bay waters are still there.

PICTURE! PICTURE!

Uy kunwari sweet kami and not naiinis ako kanina for not ordering drive thru!!!!

We were supposed to have drinks but then the al fresco cafe was already closed and there was a long walk to go to the cafe inside the hotel.

Oh well!

We decided to ust go to our last hop. He he he he he!

THE PENINSULA!!!!

Layo no??? Ha ha ha ha ha!

Mommy's wish since she enjoyed her drinks last time there with sina Kuya Jay. It's okay. Anything to make my Mommy happy because WE'RE happy she joined us (and did not stay home to watch Koreanovelas... ha ha ha).

Enter.....

And we see the familiar iron sun.

The PENINSULA MANILA lobby!!!!!!

It was jampacked and we prepared for the long wait. However, maitre d' informed us that they'll be closing in an hour. It's okay and asked to be listed.

Everything was fine naman. I requested however if it was okay for us to occupy the waiting area instead since we'll just be having drinks (it's a space with 2 couches by the maitre d).  She agreed so all was well and we just waited to set up.

Later on, a lady came and said her group was earlier occupying our space and they planned to have their drinks there. She admitted though that they did not make bilin to anyone to save it for them when she went to the restroom. She was also not listed.

Then a table got free and the maitre d thought that since we have a place na, to offer that to the new lady.

Hmmmmmm... I think that's wrong naman. Ha ha ha ha ha!

I told the maitre d that what's fair is to give us the table that got free since we got listed and that the other lady was initially fine with occupying the waiting area. In fairness, we were there and was really next in line.

The maitre d realized I was right and gave us the table nga naman.

Alanganamang magtiis kami sa waiting area when a table got available and we're next in line!

He he he he he he!

Don't worry. I asked nicely naman.

We're in PENINSULA MANILA!!!!

Syempre, we ordered!!!!

PENINSULA MANILA Cafe Latte (P560.00).

Mati and I ordered each one. It was a nice hot drink to soothe our tummies.

PENINSULA MANILA Cheesecake (P560.00)!

PENINSULA MANILA Banana Turon (P590.00).

Yum especially with the ice cream!

PENINSULA MANILA Hot Chocolate (P280.00).

So comforting and fudgy.

One pot may just be 1 order but it's good for 2pax. Mommy and Yub shared this.

My Mommy went "HAY NAMAN" when I ordered this.

E kasi!

The table at MANILA HOTEL next to us, ordered Crispy Pata and I got so inggit.

PENINSULA MANILA Bagnet (P990.00).

My Mom is like "JAZ! MAAWA KA SA KATAWAN MO!"

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Sorry mommy!

Such a wonderful late meal at a beautiful place.

DONE!!!!!!

Le bill.....

Too bad that PENINSULA MANILA took down all Christmas decorations. I guess it was in preparation for the New Year's Eve party.

Oh well. A part of our HOTEL HOPPING tradition may be oohing and aahing at the holiday lights, BUT, doing two hops with my favorite people is still something else.

Hopefully, Mommy could join again next year.

Taking every opportunity to take pictures. Ha ha ha ha!

And now it's time to go.

I think this was about 1:00am.

I"m happy that the little lords still enjoy this holiday tradition with us. I always tell them that if they can, they should also do this with their own families.

As for me and the Yub, we'll do this for many more years to come. Kahit na abot pa sa mga apo namin. Game lang! He he he he he!

SO

THERE.

(Check out Andrei's face trying to copy his expression before. Ha ha ha ha ha)
