OUR CHINESE NEW YEAR 2018 IN LUCENA

Usually when it's the Chinese New Year, THE YAPPY BUNCH would go to Binondo to enjoy the sights, noise, and food. But for this year, we just felt like having a change; we wanted to do something else rather than our usual CNY gimik. And that is why we decided to go to Yub's hometown in Lucena City instead.

Of course, when all was said and done, we suddenly missed jostling with the crowds in Binondo to celebrate their New Year.

But obviously, that came right after we stuffed ourselves silly with our usual favorites.

It's the Chinese New Year and we'll do something different!

Yup!

Traffic was horrendous that we arrived in our favorite KAMAYAN SA PALAISDAAN at about 3:00pm!!!

Egad! We're so hungry at this point.

Yummmm... My beautiful plate of Fried Tilapia, Barbecued Pork Chops, Mustasa Leaves with Coconut Milk, and Steamed Rice topped with Crispy Sisig!!!!

Yep! I think we made the right decision. Ha ha ha ha ha!

Kidding!

Attaaaacccckkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Done!

BURP!

He he he he! In PALAISDAAN, the little lords showed some brotherly love....

NOT.

Andrei tried his best to kiss his Kuya which just irritated Master Mati more.

To be fair though, I'm sure Andrei was just doing it to bug him.

For dessert... What should we have: The original pilipit (figure 8) or the "__lipit" (the half 8)? He he he he he!

When we got to Yub's home, the boys immediately distributed their heart lollipops (as it was still Valentimes for them).

To lovely Ivy....

To little Isha...

To cutie Hiley...

And to pretty Hennie!

Syempre sa mismong Mommy they don't have a gift. Ha ha ha ha! But it's okay. They'll still be my forever cutie VALENTIMES!!!!

That night, Yub's family went out for dinner at one of Lucena's newest spots!

RYU!

(Don't mistake it for the Ramen house in Makati... he he he he)

The Yub and I shared the Pork Chop steak and we loved it! The thick slab of meat was more than enough for 2 seniors like us. He he he he he!

Blog post coming soon!

When we got home, I discovered that I put on my dress backwards.

TOINKS!

That night, we had a videoke session.

Dear Ivy was leaving the next morning to go somewhere so it was great to spend some (noisy) time with her. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

The next day, the Yub was so happy that we had brunch in his favorite CAFE ANTIQUA!

Yes! THIS is always included in the itinerary!

After feasting on some sweet and spicy chami, the Yub and I took the kiddies to a school fair, his alma mater.

It was so hot but the kiddies were excited so we cannot say no.

They shot at some balloons...

Yup! Start them early as I would always say.

And rode the Ferris Wheel....

Like me, Andrei didn't feel like riding it. But look at his face -- he was in awe and happy for his Kuya and Isha.

Next up for the kiddies is the carousel...

The ride was a bit crude and cranky but the little ones didn't seem to mind based on their laughs.

After the carousel they tried out the Mickey ship.

Each "ship" was only good enough for one.

This was to Mati's relief because he didn't want to sit with anyone.

And off they go!

The ride was fast but it was manageable.

Up next was the caterpillar. I sat beside Andrei because he requested that I hug him all throughout the ride.

Peeektyur peektyur! Masaya pa ako niyan!

INANGKUPUSHNESS IT WAS SOOOOOOOO FAST!!!

I think this was the fastest ever caterpillar ride that I went on! Hindi na nakakatuwa!

And it took sooooo long!!!!! Grrr!

When I felt that it was going to be faster, I signaled the guy to cut it. Ay nako no. Buti sana if their ride was in tip top shape but it wasn't -- umaalog alog siya to the max and reeked of fuel. It's manageable only if it's at a normal speed.

Hay naku!!!!!

That night, we decided to have a Chinese dinner in honor of their New Year.

And also because we were craving for some delicious Chinese food.

BLOG POST COMING SOON!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot really say no to the boys especially if it's an activity where they'll have fun. So when they asked if they could play bowling, we went right ahead.

He he! Yun lang I got carried away with some trash talking that Andrei got pikon and cried.

Bawal pikon huy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure the kiddies still had fun. He he he he he!

The Yub went out that night to sow his wild oats but I still had my own fun gimik with these guys. We had a spicy noodle challenge and videoke night (again). I'm sure you got a picture how wild that could be. He he he he he!

The next day, it was time to go home for THE YAPPY BUNCH. But not before having lunch at one of Yub's favorites.... BUBBLES!

We all loved BUBBLES' Crispy Pata but besides that, we tried out 2 other dishes that we haven't ordered before...

Camaron Rebusado....

Pansit Canton!

AND NOW WE'RE DONE!

=====================

We may have celebrated CHINESE NEW YEAR differently this year but that didn't mean that we have forgotten about our usual Binondo tradition. Maybe we just wanted to have a break that's all and spend time with the Yub's family.

Of course, we all had fun (especially the kiddies because they love their cousins Isha and Hiley) and we had such a gastronomic time enjoying our Lucena comfort food. But somehow we missed the crowds of Binondo during this season. We didn't wish to be in Binondo because of the lack of enjoyment in Lucena, it's more like breaking a habit that we've been doing so for a long time.

Yup! That's what tradition does to you. He he he he he!

Now that we've taken our "break", we are raring to go back and rock Binondo for the next Chinese New Year.

As for Lucena, we're counting the days again until we return and stuff ourselves silly with our usual favorites.

He he he he!

SO.

THERE.

PADER.
