HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN (LUCENA CITY)

One weekend when we were in my husband's hometown in Lucena City, Quezon Province, we wanted to try out something new besides our usual favorites PALAISDAAN, PEKING, CAFE ANTIQUA, BUBBLES, etc etc.

And with that, we came to HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN!

HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN recently opened in a gasoline station near Diversion road.

This new restaurant in Lucena City specializes in serving authentic Japanese food. Although they don't have my usual favorites of sushi and sashimi, I feel that this is still something to check out on a hungry day!

In the mood for Japanese snacks? Check out HORIBATA'S display! They may have the  munchies that you're craving for.

They also have a wide display of their Japanese beer and hard drinks. I'm not much of a drinker so I didn't take a second look at it. If that were a display case of ramen packets, then I would be staring as if it was the season finale of DOWNTON ABBEY.

Interiors in HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN give out that calm and peaceful vibe with their earthy colors and spacious dining area.

Calm and peaceful?? Not for long! HA!

The little lords were not allowed to play with their gadgets during our family lunch. So guess what they did?

We just discovered that they zoinked the Chinese Adonis' camera and took some pictures.

It's good that HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN was very kid-friendly. The servers gave out these Origami Kits for the children to work on while waiting for our food.

It was even brand new and sealed when the server gave it to us!

The Chinese Adonis, being the ever loving Dad and Uncle that he is, immediately taught the little ones how to make a bird.

When you're finished and want to share your colorful creations, you could leave/deposit your works in the HORIBATA origami jar.

Our server promptly approached us to take our orders.

Now. What should we get?

ROLL CALL!

Eric's mom and Andrei!

Isha and Master Mati!

The Chinese Adonis, MEH, and Ivy!

Spoon and fork were available upon request. But you could always do as the Japanese do and eat with chopsticks!

AND FINALLY! THE FOOD IS HERE!

HORIBATA Gyoza (P80.00)!

Each piece was perfectly charred giving that slight crunch per bite.

The HORIBATA gyozas were juicy and not oily at all!

Certainly Mati approved!

My sister-in-law Ivy recommended the Ramen so we got 3 piping hot bowls of their Tonkotsu (P200.00).

Each bowl delivered that milky and very tasty broth made from pork bones that have been simmered for hours.

Along with the soup, there were toppings like a hard boiled egg, cabbages, spring onions, and pork chasiu!

Yummmm.... So perfect for cold and rainy nights!

To be honest, the soup lacked the richness compared to the ones here in Manila. But for P200.00 per bowl? I'd say this is still definitely worth slurping during a Japanese craving!

Ivy ordered the HORIBATA Shio Zake (P220.00)!

This is the grilled salted salmon that was very moist and well seasoned.

For an extra layer of flavor, add a spritz of lemon!

Yub's mom had the HORIBATA Mixed Tempura (P250.00) to share with the little kiddies.

It was an assortment of fried Japanese goodness!

After just one bite of the gyoza, we immediately ordered another one. He he he he!

ERICJAZ FOODIES with the little lords and Yap family at HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN!

Our messy table!

Mati was slurping away one noodle at a time. He he he he he he!

Andrei was eating with a lot of gusto also!

He got quite a kick of the wine bottle water container and proceeded to take full swigs at it.

The noodles were good but I preferred it to be more chewy. Still, every mouthful is delicious and flavorful! The kids loved it too!

To add a bit of excitement, I put in several dashes of chili powder. He he he he he he!

And in no time...

As usual, my very finicky eater is taking a lot of time to finish his food. Check out Andrei doing his own version of a Pabebe Wave while eating noodles.

HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN did not have coffee. But they did have tea to ease up our very full tummies. He he he he he he!

As for the kids, they played with each other while waiting for us grown-ups to finish. Like I said, no gadgets allowed. They should be creative and play among themselves.

Our HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN bill!

Overall HORIBATA JAPANESE KITCHEN is a fine place to go to if you're craving for some Japanese food in Lucena City. Considering that prices are cheaper compared to other Japanese restaurants, the taste is still something that will make you crave and go back for. Do take note that the restaurant gets very full during peak hours so go there early.

Woo to the Hoo!!
