CARMEN'S BEST ICE CREAM

I remember growing up that when my sister and I like something, we would always go to our Dad to share it with him. Don't think of us as being generous angels, oh no! It's just that with my Dad, when he finds something that he likes, he would buy A TON of it. YES. A TON. And, unlike his greedy daughters, he buys A TON to share with us. Ha ha ha ha!

Anyway fast forward to 2013, my sister pulled the same "move" on my Dad with her newest discovery, CARMEN'S BEST. She let him taste the salted caramel and the rest was history. I remember one time (at band camp?) that when I opened the fridge there were pints and pints of CARMEN'S BEST in different flavors. With that my Chinese Adonis and I would forego the usual popcorn to have a "his" and "her" pint of CARMEN'S BEST.

posted in @ericjazfoodies instagram posted on Oct. 2013!

Oooh yeah... life has never been so sweet and dandy!

After our barbecue dinner at the epic staycation (SEE HERE), we received an invite to meet THE creator of CARMEN'S BEST himself, Mr. Paco Magsaysay. Even if it was late and we were smelling like barbecue, we went out to the home of CARMEN'S BEST to see the real deal on why it was SOOO good!

Mr. Paco Magsaysay welcomed us to his home with a warm smile that is as comforting as his CARMEN'S BEST ice cream!

He told us that the idea to produce CARMEN'S BEST started when he realized he had all the dairy requirements needed since they owned Holly's Milk!

And with that, CARMEN'S BEST was introduced to the public on February, 2011.

According to Mr. Magsaysay, what makes CARMEN'S BEST so good is because of the amount of  cream mixed into per pint. He further explained that the reason why his ice cream is priced differently from other commercial brands out there is because of the the butter cream lovingly mixed into it as well

Its not just about the toppings. You really have to HAVE  a good base in order to have delicious ice cream!

My little lords naturally asked a lot of questions how CARMEN'S BEST ice cream was made and Mr. Magsaysay was very nice in giving answers to their curious minds.

Check out my Andrei's 2 "puyos". He he he he!

Anyway, Mr. Magsaysay said we'll be eating some CARMEN'S BEST ice cream right after he shows us how his delicious products are made.

Look at me trying hard to listen after I heard the words "EATING" and "CARMEN'S BEST". He he he he!

Mr. Magsaysay showed us his 2 machines involved in the production of his CARMEN'S BEST ice cream. Both are made in the Philippines which does the pasteurizing and cooking of the cream mixture. For every 15 minutes, it is able to whip up 15 liters of the base for CARMEN'S BEST. After cooling the mixture down, it is then put into a blast freezer to stop the melting process and we get our much desired CARMEN'S BEST ice cream!

They are able to produce around 100 to 200 pints a day for the benefit of man kind. He he he he!

According to Mr. Magsaysay, CARMEN'S BEST ice cream could last about 6 months in the fridge.

But then, who would be crazy enough to let these "food for the gods" last that long?

At the end of Mr. Magsaysay's CARMEN'S BEST background, he said he will be giving us a little treat!

And no, we're not going to remove the skin from those roasted almonds!

Don't you just hate it when mothers pull that little trick on you to make a job more fun?

Mom : "KIIIIDS! I got a surprise for you! The winner gets to wash the dishes! WOHOO!"

He he he he!

Anyway, Mr. Magsaysay treated us to his own concoction of soft served ice cream!

This was not available to the market so it really felt like an early Christmas treat for all of us!

And with a generous drizzle of that thick hot fudge, that treat goes straight to New Year's! He he he he!

Mati loved it! He was not really a fan of the complicated ones he usually gets in malls but he does find comfort in a simple cup of soft served from his favorite fast food chain!

And though for us adults this tastes far from THAT, Mati truly enjoyed this special cold treat because it was mega points more of his fast food dessert favorite.

Mmmmmm.....

Tsk tsk tsk... Mati with MUCKING AROUND MANILA and TASTY PIXELS PHOTOGRAPHY

Kids will REALLY be kids! He he he he!

Check out Andrei's puss n' boots stare while Kathi was drizzling some chocolate fudge on her ice cream!

He was really staring! Ha ha ha ha!

Head shot!

This made my little lord follow suit and meekly asked for his own soft served ice cream!

Then squirted some thick hot chocolate sauce on top of it.

Oh wow... perfection!

Awww my little adorable Andrei!

Hmmm... I think I need to get a filling....

Well if Andrei felt like doing THAT, I felt like doing THIS with the chocolate syrup!

Kidding! I also got me some CARMEN'S BEST ice cream with chocolate sauce and almonds!

It was gone in a jiffy! (Ngasab ngasab!)

If the special soft served ice cream was not enough, Mr. Magsaysay brought out the piece de resistence, CARMEN'S BEST!

Mr. Magsaysay was especially proud of his CARMEN'S BEST pistachio because he used the finest ingredients to get the ultimate delicious flavor of the nutty favorite!

And yes, with just one taste, we were all exclaiming how this CARMEN'S BEST specialty really gave out that delicious pistachio flavor!

I was really eyeing my default favorite in CARMEN'S BEST...

But then Mr. Magsaysay brought out CARMEN'S BEST newest flavor -- the Hokey Pokey!

The CARMEN'S BEST Hokey Pokey was creamy and velvety to the tongue. I loved that the ice cream already gave out that lip-smacking smooth honey flavor but with extra crunches from crushed butterscotch balls. So delectable!!! I think I might have a new favorite!!!! YUMMMM!!!!!!

CARMEN' BEST ice cream is priced from P370.00 - P420.00 per pint depending on the flavor. Trust me, every spoonful is worth it. You may never have to reach out for another ordinary ice cream in the market EVER. AGAIN.

    2. Nope. Parang hindi naman corny. Being real lang and good vibes. Anyway, I love the malted milk flavor of carmen's best rather than the salted caramel. I prefer textures kasi over smoothness. Is the hokey pokey any good?
Thank you and truly appreciate your honest reviews.

    3. Hi there! Thanks so much! Only a few gets my weird humor I guess. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! If you like textures then the HOKEY POKEY is definitely for you because it has crushed butterscotch balls. You'll hear and feel something crumbling along with the vanilla ice cream and caramel. Of course, it's kaniya kaniya talaga. Like me I'm more for the salted caramel. But the Hokey Pokey was a nice change. Thanks again and cheers! Have a good day!
